How to offer support without getting stuck doing all the work

As a manager, it is your job to delegate work, and ensure that the delegated work gets done. So many different people have different ways of delegating work to others. But sometimes people feel like they have to give support by helping out with the work they have delegated out. If you are one of those people here are some tips on how to offer support without getting stuck doing all the work.
The first tip on how to offer support without getting stuck doing all the work is to give suggestions of different things that need to be done. Once a person has started on a project continue to give encouragement. Act interested in what they are working on every step of the way. This will help them see what you are offering support.

The second tip on how to offer support without getting stuck doing all the work is to not criticize. Criticizing is one of the worst things that you can do. If all you give is criticism then the people doing the work will want you to do the work so you can do it the way you want it done.
The third tip on how to offer support without getting stuck doing all the work is to say what needs to be done as far as a project goes and then give a dead line of when it needs to be completed. Then a day or two before the project is suppose to be completed send and e0mail to the person or give them a call to remind them that the project is coming due and go from there.

But inform them that you are busy and don't have time to do the whole project and that is why you are having them do the work.

Sometimes it is harder to not get stuck doing all the work if your other team mates are not pulling their weight. The best thing to do is to get your part of the project done and then start asking what everyone else has gotten done. If you can't do your part with out the other part being done make sure that you keep reminding the person you are waiting on that you need them to get their part done first. You will also want to make sure that when you are doing a group project that you find out exactly what work you are suppose to be doing along with what work you are not suppose to be doing. This way you will know where you can be giving support to people to get their jobs done but at the same time not getting stuck doing all the work because you don't know what you are suppose to be doing and what you are not.
There are different ways that you can offer support without getting stuck doing all the work. Different people have a different way of working, and some do want others to do their work. So make sure that you lay out some ground rules so people know that you will help them out and answer their questions but you will not do all of the work. Everyone is busy and sometimes you don't even have enough time to get your own work done let alone get stuck doing all the work that some one else is suppose to be doing.
