With so much stress to deal with on a daily basis at work, it is crucial to keep up on employee health. Making a few changes to your office environment can make for happier, friendlier coworkers.

1. Start With Breaks
Some companies forgo the coffee breaks. If yours allows for them or has a break room open throughout the day, consider what is being served. Instead of the normal coffee, branch out a bit. Free coffee can encourage over-consumption. Perhaps there is a healthier alternative to offer, such as herbal tea. Add in healthy snacking options, too, to help keep employees focused at their desks.
2. Check Out The Snacks
Look into what is being offered in vending machines. Too often the only choices are full of empty calories, sugar and salt. Look into making a change of contract with who services your office.
Bring in a company that can restock machines with fresh produce and salads. Often people just need a bit to eat when they turn to a vending machine. By only offering healthy foods, you are sure to make a small difference for the better in someone's life.
3. Turn On The Sun
Make sure that the office gets a lot of light. It should be warm and bright. Light colored walls can help open up a room. Also allow for sunlight to come through windows to provide some vitamin D.
4. Bring The Gym To Work
Install a gym in an unused room so employees have easy access to exercise equipment. Bring in treadmills and other aerobic machines. Aerobic exercise can help prevent common heart conditions
Weight training machines can help to prevent bone diseases that are common in older age. Get rid of medical bills paid by the company with a new fitness room.
5. Teach Stretching
Pass out handouts that teach stretching techniques. For those sitting at desks all day, a few stretches and breaks can help avoid carpel tunnel and loss of focus.
6. Keep Them Happy
Make sure that each employee has one-on-one meetings with supervisors from time to time. Check up their health and happiness. Reinforce a strict policy of no substance abuse.
Many employee health plans cover problems like smoking and obesity. Make sure that each employee knows about such programs. Convey the message that the company cares about them.
7. Give Health
Whether you are looking for a gift of gratitude or a small bonus, make sure it is one that promotes wellness. Use this opportunity to hand out subscriptions to health magazines and gym memberships. Give the gift that truly keeps giving in the form of a gift certificate. Sporting goods stores and healthy food diners are sure to be different and appreciated.
8. Party Food
When it comes time to party, change the way things are run. Get rid of the alcohol and serve virgin drinks. Alcohol contributes to many diseases. Do not let your company contribute to such problems.
See to what is being served. Rather than serving appetizers full of carbohydrates, offer healthier options. Serve vegetables and fruits that are presented on beautiful trays. They can even be used as centerpieces.
9. Breakfast
Unhealthy visitors often frequent team meetings. Those pastries on the table are the guests that need to go. Exchange baked goods for better options. Offer cheese and baked crackers and whole-wheat bagels. Serve orange juice instead of coffee. It pumps you up just as effectively with better long-term results.
10. Dinnertime
When keeping groups at the office for late night meetings that run through dinnertime, forget the Chinese takeout. Ahead of time, find local places that deliver. Jot down a few healthy eateries to choose from when such occasions come up. Lots of employees will appreciate options that keep them feeling good throughout the night.
There are so many things you can do to add to the wellbeing of employees in your company. Start with these 10 ideas to be on your way to success. Wellness starts with you.
