Have you ever been working away at your desk and found yourself opening your "snack drawer" even when you aren't hungry. Snack attacks can happen to everyone and they are often hard to overcome. Employers sometimes make it hard to curb the cravings when they bring in a big box of doughnuts for the entire office. How can you avoid indulging in an extra 300 calories that you don't need? The solution lies in bring some healthy snacks to the office.

Healthy office snacks are a great way to help you stay focused with your weight loss goals and your body will thank you for it. If you need some helping making some healthy office snacks, here are a few suggestions:

The Sweet Tooth
For the employees that like to keep a bag of Skittles in their drawer, the time has come to toss the sugar and opt for some alternative sweet snacks. Frozen yogurt and frozen juice bars are a healthy alternative and many of them are made with 100% juice and no sugars are added. Fruit bars are perfect because you can suck on them for several minutes, causing your brain to send the signal that it is "satisfied" with its sweet tooth craving.

Yogurt is another great sweet tooth snack to implement into your diet. The best thing about yogurt is you can choose from a wide variety of flavors like cheesecake, chocolate pie, strawberry shortcake, and several others. The yogurt actually tastes like the real foods and this can really boost your spirits when you are in need of something sweet.

How about bringing a small bag of carrots or apple chips into the office? Carrots and apples both have natural sugars in them and your body will be satisfied from the natural sugars it receives. In fact, all fruits contain natural sugars so you may even want to consider purchasing some fruit packs to take into the office.

Celery or apples with a little peanut butter is another perfect office snack. The peanut butter will give you a boost in energy because it is packed full with protein, especially if you get the peanut butter with nuts.

Salty Snacks
If you find yourself staring at the vending machine in search of Doritos, pretzels, or another salty snack, put your dollar back in your pocket and walk away. Its time to pack your own snacks that can satisfy your craving for something salty at 2:00 in the afternoon. One of the best salty snack ideas is to bring some nuts to work. Make sure you pay close attention to the serving size because nuts do contain a lot of calories. Nuts are great because they are considered a heart-healthy snack and they contain lots of protein. The protein intake helps your body feel satisfied after you have eaten them and it can help you avoid eating a bag of other "empty calorie" options. Walnuts, pecans, peanuts, and almonds are great nuts to try while you are in the office.

Bring some fat-free ranch to the office and dip some fresh vegetables for another office snack. The chopped vegetables can curb your salt craving and the ranch dressing can also help you avoid other snacks that pack on extra pounds. Make sure you don't consume a lot of dressing and bring a variety of different vegetables like broccoli, carrots, celery, and cauliflower.

Granola bars are a great office snack. They often contain fruits and nuts to satisfy your salty and sugary cravings. Another great feature of granola bars is that you can make them at home; you don't even need to buy a box at the store.

With your snacking, make sure you consume plenty of water. Drinking more water will actually help flush out the calories and help you drop a few pounds.
