Blood Type Diet Review:

The blood type diet was originally formulated by Dr. Peter Dadamo, author of "Eat Right for Your Type." Since being published in 1996 Dr. Dadamo's book has gained wide spread recognition and spent time on the New York Times bestseller list.

The original blood type diet, created by Dr Dadamo is designed to focus on eating certain foods according to each person's blood type, and likewise avoiding certain foods, again according to each person's blood type.

The blood type diet does not go through certain set stages or patterns designed specifically for weight loss or other health issues. It is rather a set of do's and do not's specific to each persons blood type, meant to be integrated as a part of a life style rather implemented only while trying to obtain certain health benefits.

The original blood type diet book goes through each specific blood type first naming the foods that can be eaten and then naming the foods that can't. Dr. Dadamo focuses on both the negative and the positive outcomes of each blood type eating from specific food groups.

Dr. Dadamo bases his diet on his own research stating that the "lectins" (proteins found in abundance in foods) cause clotting in the blood if eaten by a person with the wrong blood type. Clotting in the blood can lead to a number problems in each persons body, including eventual death if not taken care of.

Dr. Dadamo concludes that avoidance of certain "lectins" (the bad guys) can provide long and lasting health, including a slim figure, in each person whom applies his principles.

For health this diet receives a three rating. Dr Dadamo has yet to prove his theory that certain lectins prove harmful, and even fatal, in certain blood types. Thus there will be people who will be avoiding certain beneficial foods, dairy, meat, legumes, and avoiding the benefits and nutrients that come from them, for a reason that has not been proven.

For speed it gets a 5 because although Dr. Dadamo states certain foods to avoid, he puts no limit on the amount of foods, for each persons appropriate blood type, that can be consumed. Dr. Dadamo, while not specifically stating to avoid certain fast foods and junk foods, does list foods from each food group however that should be consumed by each blood type daily.

For ease of implementation this diet should receive a one, as each person trying to implement this diet has to first know their specific blood type, and then in each situation pick and choose foods according to that blood type, no combination of foods being right for each individual.

Ease of adherence would also be a one given the fact that if a person was being served, a sandwich say (a common food choice for most individuals) and that person was a type "O" blood type, that person would have to accept the meat while rejecting the bread or bun that it was served on.

For a busy life style this diet receives a zero because for a person on the run they would have to pack food from home or only choose from whole foods that can be picked up quickly.

For family friendly this diet also receives a zero because the diet would have to be designed specifically to each member of the family for each meal each day, and the person preparing the food could have to prepare up to four different meals for a family of different blood types.

In long term potential this diet gets a three. It would be hard to implement for family or for an individual as it would take lots of daily preparation and lots of refusing foods in social situations.

In the long run this diet would be a hard life style to implement and is based on no factual evidence which would make it easy for a person to break given any daily situation.
