Creating products that speak for themselves

The health and beauty industry is booming. Everyone is looking for the perfect product that will make skin softer and younger looking, lighten hair or under eye circles, or strengthen fingernails.

However, the industry is saturated with products that don't work to achieve their desired results. Consequently, customers are unsatisfied and business owners lose money and either recreate their product or close down their business. Or, they spend extra money on endorsements or aggressively advertising their product to make up for the fact that it doesn't work as well.

Ideally, your product will speak for itself. This has a number of benefits, including:
You can be confident your product actually works.
You will not need to rely on aggressive marketing or outlandish claims to get people to buy your products
Word of mouth will draw others to your product

But creating a successful product that provides results that speak for themselves is not always easy. The following are some tips for creating products that speak for themselves:

Know what the need is.
If you already have a product in mind, find out or listen to comments from people about what they like and don't like about similar products they are currently using. For example, maybe their acne medicine dries their skin out. Or perhaps their lip balm wears off too quickly. Or maybe they want to find a nail polish that doesn't chip. Knowing what the demand is for the product can help you to make a product that speaks for itself.

Know what you want the product to achieve.
Before you can develop the perfect product, you first need to know what results you want to achieve. It's best to be specific. For example, do you want to create a thick lotion that soothes very dry skin, or do you want to develop an every day use lotion that prevents dry skin? Knowing the results you want your product to have on your customers can not only help you to better create a successful product, but market it to the right group as well.

Do your research
In order to create a great product, you will need to do a good amount of research. This includes knowing what ingredients and products you will need, as well as knowing the reactions they will cause; for example, what dries skin, what causes dehydration, what reduces puffiness or redness, and so forth. A certain amount of chemistry will also be involved.

There are many books and internet sites available that can help you put together a product that speaks for itself. You will then need to take what you learn and apply it as you make your product. It will take a good amount of experimenting and trial and error before you find out what works the best.

Keep perfecting it.
Keep working on your product until you have one that you are satisfied with. Give out samples, ask people what they like and dislike about it, and see if it achieves the desired results. If it doesn't, then you know you still need to work on it.

Creating a product that speaks for itself takes a lot of research, work, testing, and trial and error. But the results will be well worth it when you have a product that speaks for itself that people will want to buy and recommend to their friends.
