Anxiety is common in offices. Some employees can handle anxiety well, others tend to let it take over and they have complete terror. Anxiety is difficult for your physical and mental health. If you do not have it properly treated, it can easily affect your co-workers and lower employee morale and cause some people to take sick leave.

One of the best ways to reduce anxiety in the workplace is to encourage your employees to participate in yoga or Tai Chi. These exercises focus on meditation and can really help to remove anxiety.

Anxiety can be caused from worry over your job and other things like your home life. Some people experience anxiety due to their finances or sudden life changes like a death or divorce. Anxiety is basically an uncontrollable fear over what is going to happen. For example, let's use Tom the graphic designer. Tom has been working on a big project on child abuse prevention. This project is designed specifically for the Department of Defense to go to each family in the armed forces. The artwork designs Tom uses must pass the specifications of his boss and the specifications of all the people on the committee. Now, the first 3 designs Tom used were rejected and he has a deadline in 3 days to come up with a new design. At this point, Tom is completely overcome by anxiety. It will case him to have several problems at his job such as being paralyzed to think. The idea of what he wants to do will not come or his hands will not be able to create it because he is completely paralyzed by fear. What can Tom do? The best thing he can do is take an afternoon off work and focus on relaxing. He needs to attend yoga class or spend time meditating. This will help him remove the stress he is feeling and come back to work the next day ready to create a masterpiece.

Some people are not able to fix their anxiety easily and they require medical attention for their problem. Medications can help to control adrenaline levels that may be causing people to worry in the first place. If you are experiencing anxiety, exercise really is the best thing you can do to treat yourself.

Employers need to be aware that anxiety can lead to severe health complications if it is left untreated. Some things they can do to help their employees with anxiety is take them outside for staff meetings. This change of environment can really help a lot of people to reduce their stress which is caused by anxiety.

If they have a lot of work to do, ask them if they need help. Just bringing in another person to get them organized can help them reduce their anxiety and re-focus on their job and their life. If you suspect their anxiety is being caused from personal problems, ask them to seek medical attention.

If you have an on-site counselor, ask the employee to meet with them daily for at least 30 minutes to work on their anxiety. They can give the employee some breathing techniques and exercises that will reduce anxiety. It is hard to control anxiety, especially if you were raised in an environment where it was prevalent and you have not been taught how to properly deal with it.

The best thing you can do is learn to accept that problems are natural and you cannot control everything. Take your mind off them and do not worry about them every second of the day. If you feel anxiety taking over when you are at work, take a short break and go for a walk. Do not think about the things that are bothering you, instead imagine yourself at a place that relaxes you.
