organizedoffice16487189.jpg
When it comes to our janitors not many of us even notice them or even give them a second thought unless our bathrooms are dirty or our trash didn't get emptied and then we all start to complain about how lousy our janitors are doing or we call and complain to the company about them not doing a part of their job. But one thing that many of us don't stop to think about is that if we have a really good janitor that usually means that we have better employee health. There are numerous reasons that having a really good janitor means better employee health, but the fact of the matter is that until something doesn't get done we don't even give the janitors a second thought, so the next time you think about complaining about one trashcan take a minute to think about your overall employee health before you blame the janitor.

Here are some of the ways having a good janitor can mean better employee health.

Number one:

This is probably the most important way having good janitors actually leads to better employee health. But in general your janitor is in charge of keep the bathrooms clean, and in fact most of your germs actually come from inside of an employee bathroom. So if you have a good janitor who uses the proper products and cleans the bathroom on a regular basis, meaning every night or if you have a day janitor, every couple of hours you are going to have cleaner bathroom. And the cleaner your bathroom is the fewer germs that will breed in the bathroom. And if you have fewer germs being passed around that means fewer employees will actually get sick.

Number two:
And like the bathrooms your janitor is going to be in charge of cleaning the break room and other employee areas, although not as many germs breed in these locations as they do in the bathrooms. But by having a clean break room and employee areas, meaning they are properly cleaned each day if not more than once a day, you are going to have fewer germs multiplying in these locations, which in turn leads to fewer sick employees.

Number three:
Something else that janitors do that we don't notice is that they often will sanitize our work areas. This is usually something that has to be required in the janitorial contract. But it is still nice to have keyboards cleaned once a week and desks wiped down. All of the little things that the janitors do end up meaning better employee health.

Number four:
Another thing that the janitors do is use cleaning products properly, which actually means better employee health. We don't think about this a lot but if you are not following the directions on the cleaning chemicals then you are not letting the chemicals do their job which is to destroy germs on multiple surfaces. But a good janitor knows exactly how to use each cleaning chemical that they use which gives you the best effect from that chemical, meaning that all germs have been killed with that application.

Number five:
Something else that a good janitor will do that helps your employees have better health is that they always check to see that the hand soap is filled up and the hand sanitizers are kept full. This allows your employees to clean their hands as they see fit, meaning that it is up to the employees to maintain that part of the health code. But your good janitors are going to supply you with the tools that you need to help maintain employee health.
