From patches, to gum, to cold turkey quitting can definitely take its toll on your body. That's why many people have turned to hypnosis for smoking cessation. Many people believe that if they can kick the habit subconsciously, they can kick it when they're awake. It is the process of mind over body.

When it comes to hypnosis and the direct connection between being able to stop smoking, it will usually work. The key to stopping however is to stop only when you are ready to quit; not when someone else is telling you to do so. Many people try to stop cold turkey and will often fail because they weren't ready to do so. The proper way for hypnosis and smoking cessation is progressive and will often times take more than just one time to help you quit.

There are many benefits to using hypnosis, which is why millions of people all over the world have successfully used this form of treatment. It can improve and often times cure several different types of illness and conditions. It can also:


  • Treat anxiety disorders, fears, phobias, alleviate pain, reduce stress, build confidence, help with weight loss, and of course help with smoking cessation.

  •  Be used on your own. This process is known as self hypnosis. It can be extremely relaxing and used at a moments notice.

  • There are some advantages and disadvantages to using hypnosis for smoking cessation. Let's take a look at a few:

  •  Word of mouth and success stories for hypnosis and smoking cessation is phenomenal. Some people that have had hypnosis to help with smoking cessation swear by this method.

  •  Although this method can prove to be very successful, the cost can run anywhere from $60 per hour or more.

  •  No one really knows for sure, since there have not be extensive studies done on it if hypnosis really works on smoking cessation.

  •  Finding a good and credible hypnotist my also be another challenge as there are not many agencies for these professionals. Word of mouth is really the only way in finding a hypnotist that you believe to be worth the money and time

  •  The nice thing about using hypnosis is that it doesn't involve any medications.

  •  It may only require one visit, depending on the person

  •  Hypnosis is great for people who need help with confidence and will power

  •  Hypnosis may not however address the nicotine addiction. Although it can help with self confidence, nicotine is one of the strongest addictive substances.

  •  Hypnosis doesn't really provide you with the skills needed to quit for a long period of time or how to handle difficult situations.

Since there is no actually evidence for hypnosis for smoking cessation working, then it is difficult to judge whether or not it will really work. If however you have tried everything thing else you can think of and still nothing has worked, you might want to give it a try. It definitely can't make things any worse.
