Keeping your office clean will improve your employee's health
While you may think your office is clean because you have a cleaning service that comes in, you could be mistaken. This is because the cleaning service usually does basic stuff like emptying garbage's along with vacuuming. They don't sterilize the phones and the doorknobs, two areas that are collection areas for a lot of germs. Because of this you need to focus on sanitizing your office in order to prevent dangerous germs from spreading and to do all that you can in order to keep yourself and your staff healthy. Give each employee time to tidy up their work area. This is the best way to know that they will actually take the time to do it. You also need to give them access to healthy cleaning supplies and tell them areas that must be cleaned like the high traffic areas. When you have 10 minutes every day to clean up your office, it will prevent large messes from occurring but it can really help to reduce the issue with other things like accidents from tripping or colds from the spread of germs in the office. What happens when you have employees that refuse to sanitize their areas and won't participate in the routine cleaning? This is where your superior management skills come into play and you need to knock them back down to life. People need to understand that they are not above anything and that they need to be brought back down to life. When they know that they are all equals and this is part of their job description along with improving the overall health of the company, they are likely to participate. As long as it is a company policy, they won't have a lot of room to do much about it. Look for a cleaning company that will be able to do more for you than just window cleaning and vacuuming. There are some cleaning companies that will come in and sanitize keyboards and other things but you will pay for it! These companies are not cheap plus you run the risk of them moving company files or other things. This is why it is best that you have the employees do it themselves. That way if something goes missing, it is on their shoulders and they can't blame another party for it. If you don't have time for a daily cleanup at least set aside time for a weekly sanitation and then a monthly deep clean of the office. This is a great way to toss out the trash and other things that can cause you to have issues with storage. You also need to do this in order to keep the office clean and to really prevent germs from piling up. By doing this you will also set the standard for your staff so they can see cleanliness is expected of them. |
