Low Sodium Diet Review

The low sodium diet is mostly for people that have medical conditions caused by too much sodium in their bodies or conditions that are made worse by sodium intake.

Sodium is an essential part of everyone's diet. It helps to manage blood pressure and prevent water retention. The daily intake of sodium for adults is supposed to be two thousand to four thousand milligrams per day.

Since salt is a major part of a daily diet for most people, they usually get more sodium than this. Adults are probably getting from four thousand to six thousand milligrams of sodium.

In order to have a healthy sodium intake it is necessary to take precautions against too much sodium in our diets. Little things can be done such as limiting the use of table salt. Also, limiting the need for salt in cooking.

Going out to eat at restaurants can be very bad because meals at restaurants tend to be VERY high in sodium. It is suggested that if you do go out to eat at restaurants that you should ask for your food to be cooked without the use of salt. It may not be as tasty but it would be healthier for you, especially if you have high sodium problems.

You can also look on the nutrition information of products you buy from the store. If you are on a two thousand milligrams daily consumption of sodium diet, it is recommended that you buy foods with no more than two hundred milligrams of sodium in them.

For health this diet deserves a ten. It is not for everyone obviously but the people who need it are benefitted by it. If someone's health is in danger because of their high sodium rates in their body, then this diet would be wonderful for them.

For speed it is unknown how fast it would work. Studies say that it definitely helps, but how quickly is not really said. It seems commonsense though that if you did it, then your high levels of sodium would definitely start to decrease right then.

For ease of implementation this diet would get a five. It would be very difficult to try and reduce salt that much out of your life. It would be difficult to need to look up the amount of sodium on all the products you bought. It would also be very difficult to need to count all the milligrams that you ate.

For ease of adherence it should get a seven. It would probably be pretty hard to stick to but because it would be necessary it would make it a little easier. Knowing that your health depended on how well you stuck to the diet would be major adhesive to get you to stick to the diet.

For long term this diet deserves a ten. If you could really help your health out by sticking to the diet, then your health would still be helped out in a long time. Of course the long term potential really depends on how well you stick to the diet. If you do not stick to it then in the long term you would still be as bad off as you are now.

For family friendly this diet deserves a six. It would be hard to ask your whole family to go off salt and if you didn't ask your family to go off salt then you would always need to make sure and eat different foods than your family.

For the busy lifestyle this deserves a seven. It would be rather difficult if you were always busy to make sure that your food had just the right amount of salt in it. You could never just stop somewhere quickly to grab a meal. You would always need to be very picky. This would be hard.
