Mayo Clinic Diet: What you eatOn the mayo clinic diet your meal plans are written out for you and they are only written out for one day. This one day plan is what you are supposed to follow for the entire span of the diet. For breakfast you will be able to eat half of a grapefruit or an eight ounce cup of unsweetened juice, two eggs any style, and two pieces of bacon.
Come lunch it is a little more exciting with half of a grapefruit or an eight ounce cup of unsweetened juice, a salad with any dressing and meat, any style, any amount. Weird. As much meat as you want. To round up the day you will finish with half of a grapefruit or an eight ounce cup of unsweetened juice, a salad with any dressing or a red or green vegetable cooked in butter or spices, meat or fish cooked any style in any way, and a cup of coffee. You can also have a bedtime snack and this can be an eight ounce cup of tomato juice or an eight ounce cup of skim milk. There are some pretty weird rules about these meals you eat. You have to eat the minimum, you are supposed to eat as much meat as you want, you cannot stop eating until you are full, and for each meal you cannot take anything out. You have to eat just what's on the list. There are certain foods that qualify as food for this diet and there are certain foods which are disqualified. The good foods are: red onions, bell peppers, radishes, broccoli, cereal, corn, starchy vegetables, leaf spinach, pasta, peanut butter, corn chips, jelly or jam, sweet pickles, pretzels, fruit and low-fat, fat-free or diet salad dressings. The disqualified foods that didn't quite make the cut are: white onions, Potatoes, Celery, Peas, Cucumbers, Carrots, Green Onions, Potato chips, Cabbage, Tomatoes, Green Beans, Lettuce, Chili (no beans), Mayonnaise, Any cheese, Hot Dogs, Cole Slaw, Reg. Salad Dressing, Green Vegetables, 1 tsp Dried Nuts, and Dill or Bread / Butter Pickles There are certain guidelines to this diet and they are as such: You are required to drink at least eight 8 ounce cups of water each day This diet sounds a little crazy. It excludes so many healthy foods. Besides this it tells you to do so many things that have always been believed to be bad for your health. The person who wrote it could not have been serious. If you want to do this diet, you should probably reconsider before it is too late. It really does not have any health benefits. Just because you lose weight, you are not going to be healthy and this diet is not good. All losing weight implies is that you lost something, not necessarily fat pounds. If your goal is to lose weight and keep it off then you should probably put in some effort and go about it a better way. Search our site for more information: Rate This Post
