Offering your employees incentives for better health
The main reason that you want to keep your employees healthy is because healthy employees are more productive, which productive employees is good for your business. Since you want to have productive employees, but also because you care about your employees in general, you are going to want to do everything that you can to keep your employees healthy. Perhaps the best thing that you can do to help keep your employees healthy is to offer them incentives for doing specific things that are designed to keep them healthy.
One thing that you can offer your employees as an incentive is to pay 100% of the employees' medical premiums if they agree to participate in certain things like wellness programs or exercise programs. This is probably the best incentive that you can offer your employees because it will encourage your employees to do things that will get them healthier, such as joining wellness programs. The reason that this is your best incentive is because your employees will be able to save money on health insurance because they do not have to pay money on their premiums, which over time can really add up. You can also implement a sick policy that is designed to reward employees for not using their sick days. However, you need to be careful about how you do this because what might happen is that employees will come into work when they are sick rather than call in just so they can be rewarded for not using their sick days. You want to make sure that you do not punish the people who use their sick days with this reward, by not punishing people for calling in sick you will ensure that they will use their sick days when they are sick. You can also offer your employees a variety of wellness programs that they can participate in. You can do this by bringing in medical experts to your place of business so that your employees can have a full check up in so many words. Basically, they will get a personalized wellness program based on what their current needs are. Not to mention that by joining this program you can offer to pay them wellness credits, which they can actually use towards their deductible for their health insurance plan. However, the best part is if they don't ever have to use their health insurance plan they won't have any out of pocket costs, which means they end up saving money. Regardless of what kind of incentive you offer your employees for becoming healthier the one thing that you need to keep in mind is how you are going to go about offering the incentives to your employees. What you are going to want to focus on is how your employees are choosing to live a healthier lifestyle rather than focusing on the unhealthy lifestyle that some people are choosing. What this means is don't tell your employees because you are choosing to live an unhealthy lifestyle you are going to have to pay higher costs, but rather tell them since you joined this program to help get health you will be able to pay lower rates.
