Quit smoking for good

Quitting smoking is never easy, many people often try to quit smoking, but sometimes they are not successful. For many people this is one of the hardest addictions to quit, mostly because they try to go at it alone. Like with any addiction you are going to have a higher chance of success if you have a support group in place to help you quit. Another problem that people face when they try to quit smoking is that they succeed for a period of time, but then for some reason they start up again.
Here are some tips that you can keep in mind to help you quit smoking for good.
Tip one:
Be at home when the first withdrawal symptoms begin. You might not realize it but being at home when the withdrawal symptoms hit can make a huge difference. The main reason for this is that at home when you get hit with the withdrawal symptoms you can climb into bed and moan and groan until you feel better or the cravings pass. At work you cannot do that, you still have to focus on what you are supposed to be doing and have a smile on your face. Let's face it when you are going through withdrawals the last thing that you want to do is smile at everybody and pretend to be happy. Another thing that you need to think about when it comes to withdrawals is that you never know how they are going to affect you; they could make making any life decision hard or affect your ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.
Tip two:
Stay away from the places that you used to smoke. If you are constantly hanging around with people who are smoking or you are constantly going to places where you used to smoke at while visiting you are going to have a real hard time quitting. You might be able to stop smoking for a little while, but you are setting yourself up for failure by going back to those places. Watching and sniffing other people's smoke is not going to help you quit smoking, all that it is going to do is make the withdrawal process harder and longer. If you have to drop a few friends for awhile, then drop them. If they are your friends they will understand what you are trying to do and support you in that part of your life.
Tip three:
If you have a hobby now is the time to strongly take up that hobby or even time to find a hobby. The best kind of hobby that you can have at this point in your life is a hobby that keeps your hands or body busy. The point of the hobby is to keep yourself distracted so that you are not thinking about those nicotine cravings because if you are distracted from them long enough they will go away. By keeping yourself busy with something that you did not smoke while doing you can keep your mind off smoking.
Tip four:
The most frustrating part about quitting smoking is when people tell you it is easy all you have to do is not light up again. However it is just that simple, but at the same time it is still hard. You just need to keep telling yourself that you are doing the right thing because if you continue smoking you will end up killing yourself. You can also tell yourself that by quitting smoking you are saving your own life and the pain is not going to last forever.
