Raw Foods Diet Review:

The Raw Foods diet first became popular with a group of people referred to as "Hippies" back in the early nineteen-sixties. Since that time it has evolved into a life style for thousands of people.

The Raw Foods diet is, of course, centered around eating raw foods. There have been many variations to this diet since it originated, adding in small amounts of cooked vegetables, fish, or meat, but true raw foods dieters believe in only eating raw foods.

A person can integrate the raw foods di

A person can integrate the raw foods diet through stages eventually allowing the diet to become a life style, but again true Raw Food dieters believe it is all or nothing, and entering the diet slowly will only allow the cooked foods a person does eat to turn into acids in the intestines neutralizing the nutrients in the raw foods and not allowing those nutrients to benefit a persons body in the way they were meant to.

Raw foods not only consists of vegetables and fruits, but also nuts, sprouts, and beans. Raw foods dieters to believe a person must start out the diet with first alkaline vegetables (lot's of greens) for a short period of time to flush out the system and allow the body a cleansing period. The person may then enter into what may be considered the next phase: adding in more acidic vegetables, then slowly fruits, followed by beans, and then some wheat products.

The purpose of maintaining a raw foods diet, or living a raw foods life style, is to cleanse out the body of food and acids that otherwise are assumed to not be processed and therefore stored into fat, causing a person to be low in energy, and have many health problems. Some of the more common health problems that raw food dieters have talked of being healed from are, digestive problems, acne, weight, and some have even talked of overcoming arthritis.

For health this diet receives a seven rating. Though raw foods are high in nutrients a high amount has to be consumed to give a person the full amount of nutrients it is believed to need in a day. Also some who live a raw foods life style do not consume the recommended amount of nuts and greens, thus falling low in protein - which can be a serious health risk in and of itself.

For speed this diet receives a ten. Although difficult to do the cleanse that is recommended to begin a raw foods diet is a fast track to quick weight loss, water and fat, that will shoot a person towards quick fat loss if the diet is maintained. Because there is not a lot of fat to be found in raw foods, if a person primarily lives of f of fruits and vegetables, they will not store fat and the fat they do have will be used as energy.
For ease of implementation this diet receives a one because a normal person living any type of normal life style will find it very difficult to suddenly have to purchase and prepare every meal, snack, and desert throughout their day. The preparation has to be done frequently in order to maintain the freshness of the raw foods, and many people are not going to have the amount of time necessary to preparing each meal.

Ease of adherence (though it may become easier dependent on each individual) would also be given a one given the fact that there are many work, social, and other engagements people will find themselves in that will present food and more often than not the dieter will not be able to enjoy or participate in these functions. Also the time required for this diet is not easily come by and for a person to just jump right into it may be like taking on a second job.

For a busy life style this diet also receives a one because of the time it will take an individual in any situation to purchase, and prepare their food.

For family friendly this diet also receives a one because it will be hard to give the correct amount of nutrients to each individual because of the amounts that will have to be consumed. It will also be extremely time consuming, given that a person will not only have to prepare meals but because of how quickly raw foods can be processed that person will also have to prepare many snacks daily.

In long term potential this diet receives a five because of health benefits, but a five also because of the difficulty of living this life style.

Many live this life style because of a current trend or label it might give, but many live it because of the benefits. For a person looking to add extra years to their life or in need of more energy this diet would be a good diet to implement.
