Resistance ballsResistance balls are known under many names - exercise balls, stability balls, fitness balls, balance balls, body balls, Swiss balls, and gym balls. They have become so effective that athletic trainers and physical education teachers are using them in their programs. The resistance ball is a wonderful tool for strengthening the abs. It also helps to improve your balance and coordination. When beginning to work with a resistance ball for the first time, you will want to hold on to something such as a wall. It is also a good idea to begin by practicing your balance. Position the ball under your abs and hips with your hands on the floor and your legs straight and off the floor. Try holding this position for 20 to 30 seconds. As you try and keep your balance, slowly raise one of your arms out to the side and hold for a few seconds. Then try it again with the other arm. Try and keep your body in a straight line, and tighten your abdominal muscles. This is very tricky and not as easy to do as it sounds.
As you get better with your balance try placing your hands on the ball in front of you, with your arms parallel. Now, slowly roll forward as far as you can. Tighten your abs and pull back to where you started. Your resistance ball will give you improved muscle strength, greater flexibility and a better range of motion in your spine. Are you aware that these balls come in various sizes? Physical therapists suggest using an exercise ball that fits your height and leg length. It is a good ideal to consult with a physical therapist for a proper fit before using or purchasing an exercise ball. Exercise balls are made out of many materials. They can be made of vinyl, plastic, or even foam rubber. Be sure to wear the proper clothing when working out on an exercise ball and be sure not to wear jewelry or any sharp object. Exercise balls that are made of plastic can be ruined by exposure to heat. One thing to consider when choosing an exercise ball is its durability and ability to maintain its shape under pressure. Exercise balls are wonderful tools to help you get in shape, lose inches, gain strength in your muscles and improve your health. A good product choice is the FitBall ball and pump. It will give you the best head to toe workout possible. It has been weight tested to 600 pounds. Included in the package is the FitBall, FitBall pump and an exercise chart. The cost of this package is $29.95. Not too bad for the work out you will get. The holidays are almost upon us and wouldn't it be fun to find a resistance ball under your tree? Rate This Post
