If you are committed to the health and wellness of your employees you need to work on improving the workplace. Creating a healthier workplace is the key to creating a healthy workforce to help you improve productivity and to have an efficient company. So what are some of the ways in which you can create a healthier workplace? Here are some steps that you need to follow:

  1. Clean out the vending machines. One of the first things you need to do is to clean out your vending machines. When vending machines are filled with candy and soda you will end up having a lot of problems because it does promote unhealthy habits. You need to look at all of the foods in there because they are unhealthy and they aren't going to help your employees focus on health. Vending machines can be packed with healthy things like granola bars along with dried fruit and snacks that will promote wellness and will be able to provide you with more energy than what you will get from other sugary snacks and things that you can fill up on from unhealthy vending machine food.
  2. Encourage your employees to exercise. It is important that you set the example of exercising as well. Can you afford to give your employees access to an onsite exercise facility? How about offering them to gym memberships? This is a great way to improve their health and it will allow you to encourage them to go on their lunch breaks or before or after work. It is a great way to show your employees that you are motivated to help them lose weight and get in shape. Investing in things like this will show your employees that you do care for them and that you are determined to help them control their health.
  3. Offer health evaluations. This is a great way for you to be able to see what type of health your employees are in and what you need to do in order to get them into shape. You have to work on getting your employees to take notice of their health and to see that they need to start making changes in their health. It is likely that you will see employees need to have things such as flu shots and other things that are important for their health. Offering these types of services on site will encourage your employees to get their preventative treatments taken care of so you can reduce the amount of sick leave that is taken and other things. The wellness screenings are a great way for you to check for things such as TB tests along with determining where you need to focus on making an impact with your employees health needs.
  4. Hire a third party to manage the wellness program. This is the best way to ensure the program is properly introduced and that people will focus on improving their health. When you have a health manager come in and tell your employees that they need to start working on certain things like healthier eating and daily exercise, it will make it much easier for them to listen to this advice compared to hearing it from their manager. Having another company carry out the duties and responsibilities of the employee wellness program will take the pressure of you and it will make it much easier to ensure that the program will be properly carried out.
  5. Offer weight loss incentives. If your main goal is to get your employees to lose weight you need to look at the types of incentives that you can give them. Your employees will be motivated to lose weight if they know they will get some type of reward out of it.
