Who should get health benefits?
One thing that many small business owners tend to find out is that providing health insurance for their employees is actually rather expensive so rather than offering the employees that option they tend to opt out of offering any kind of health benefits for their employees. But something else that all too often happens that employers need to work on is the fact that they do offer health insurance to their employees but it is at a rate that the employees can't afford to purchase it. There are so many different things that are involved in offering health insurance to your employees that it is often very hard to decide what you should do. According to the health care crisis that we see on all of the television commercials if you don't offer health insurance you are a bad employer, but that isn't always true either. Basically deciding if you should offer your employees' health insurance is something that only you as a business owner can actually decide, but the truth of the matter is there are plenty of incentives for offering health insurance for your employees that outweigh some of the negative things like cost. But one thing that you need to be aware of as an employee is that everybody should be able to get health benefits. Basically what this means is that no matter who the employee is or what kind of health problems they have they should be able to get health benefits. And the reason for this is that the more people who have health benefits, including vision and dental, the healthier that everybody will be. The reason that people who have health benefits are healthier is because they actually have access to doctors who can provide preventive care. And it has been proven that people who have access to preventive care actually go to the doctor and get immunized on a regular basis against various illnesses, basically people who have access to preventive care tend to use it and stay healthier in general. But if you are an employer you are probably already aware of the fact that people who have some kind of preexisting condition often can't get health benefits or they are required to pay higher premiums for the same benefits that everybody else receives. While this might not seem fair to certain people, in fact it isn't fair if they don't have access to health benefits, it can also be beneficial if they are charged higher premiums that way everybody else has access to affordable healthcare. Basically we need to focus on the fact that more people need to have access to health benefits, but in order for more people to get those health benefits we need to offer affordable health benefits for them.
