The internet has opened many new doors of possibility for millions of people. The great majority of people have benefited from the internet I none way or another. Just as successful businesses thrive on the ease and access that the internet provides, so can individuals use the internet to do their personal investing in a more convenience way. Investing online by using your own online stock trade strategies or by working with an online broker is a wonderful way to see your money grow much more dramatically than if you were to simply keep your securities locked away.

The various strategies used by investors are just as diverse as the investors themselves. Online stick trade strategies are an integration of both fundamental strategies for market analysis and the use of technology to come up with an investment strategy that you can be excited about. Here are examples of online stock trading options as well as a brief description of each. Being aware of the different types of trade strategies available will create for you more opportunities to fine tune your investment moves and to be more productive in managing your securities.

Day trading

Day trading is a relatively technical way to approach the changes that occur in the market on a daily basis. In day trading you are essentially buying a stock and selling that stock in the same day. Obviously there are more strategically steps involved in this buying and selling process. But the idea is that the investor managing his own securities is responsible for deciding which securities to buy and how long to hold on to each one of them.

Momentum trading

Momentum trading gets it name from the fact that a momentum trader likes to buy or short stocks based on recent momentum put into motion by institutional investing. Knowing when the momentum of a company is going up is easy enough but the difficult part of using this strategy is knowing when it is time to sell.

Swing trading

Swing traders utilize charts, graphs and performance history to find patterns of how a company's stocks were affected by upward or downward swings in the performance of the company. Stocks are them bought or sold based on predictions made by those swing charts.

Buy and hold

The buy and hold online stock trading strategy is when you buy a stock and hold it until it peaks in worth and then sell the stock once it shows signs of decreasing in value. It is the holding part of this strategy that makes it so different from the strategies that we have previously been introduced to. In this strategy a single security can be held for years in order to reach the investor's acceptable profit earning level. Long term capital gains are another positive reason for using a buy and hold online stock training strategy.

Penny stocks

Penny stocks are stocks that trade for under ten dollars per share. Penny stocks are considered to be a very low risk method of investing. Penny stocks are not popular simple because you have to have and manage so many of them in order for them to have a significant enough impact on your portfolio. Also, day trading with penny stocks can easily become a tedious job.

Biotechs

One of the less easily recognizable but profoundly influential type of online stock trade strategies is the use of biotechs. The biotech strategy is to invest in stock connected pharmaceuticals or drugs that are awaiting approval from the FDA. Even a few dollars invested in a stock such as this one can quickly grow if the drug is approved by the FDA and the demand for it is substantial (as is often the case with pharmaceuticals).
