The topic of this article is the answer to the following very important question: what should I listen to in a stock market report?

To state the obvious, the nature of investment is changing. Instead of the majority of the American public being somewhat separate from investment, using mainly brokers to handle any sort of stock investments and not paying a whole lot of attention or channeling or receiving a lot of income in the stock market, the stock market is a major part of people's lives. And it's not just the lives of successful investment bankers. More and more people are taking control of their investments, and using stock market investments to help with Social Security, to manage retirement funds, and to plan for both today and to the future.

In order to successfully navigate the stock market, you need all of the information that you can get. And once you get that information, whether it is in the form of a stock ticker, stock market data, stock charts, or stock market reports, you need to know what that information needs, what kind of information you should be looking for, and what that information can do for you.

This article will discuss what you need to be listening for when you are listening to a stock market report. A stock market report is an invaluable tool in keeping track of the stock market and what you should do with your stocks, but only if you know how to listen to it. So here are just a few suggestions of things that you should listen to.

Market indices

The different market indices are a way to measure the movements in price of a particular stock or group of securities. Of course, there are also bond market indices and commodity indices. Make sure that you know precisely what the index is measuring (is it just measuring technology stocks? Heavy industry manufacturers? Pharmaceuticals? Utilities?). So there are a lot of different market indices out there for a lot of different sectors of different industries. Here's how you can use these market indices. Indices can be used as benchmarks. You can use an index to be a performance benchmark. If you are looking at a stock, you can compare it to the index, or your performance benchmark, to see how well that particular stock or portfolio is performing in comparison to the overall index.

Indices can also be used as a way to determine trends in trading. A particular index is meant to act as a sort of representative for all of the price changes of all of the stocks in that index. Because of this function, the index can measure the volatility of the market, its risk, and the price direction. Indices are often updated all day long so that you can keep track of the trends in the price movements of the overall market, or that particular index. Then you can decide whether or not it would be a good idea for you to buy or to sell at that particular time. Some of the major indices are the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the Standard and Poor 500 Index, the NYSE Composite Index, the Russell 2000 Index, and the Nasdaq-100 Index.

Of course, there are a number of different things that you can listen for when you are listening to a stock market report, but make sure that you keep special track of the indices. Listen to make sure that the index that you are tracking is the one that is relevant to your own portfolio. The performance of the index can help you determine the relative status of your own stocks, and thus you can base your decisions guided by the indices.
