Creating an image for yourself through marketing

First and foremost when you want to develop an image through yourself through marketing you have to name your product well. You have to have a name that will help sell products and services, not detract from them. Naming your product helps make the service or product real and tangible. So, make sure the name is pronounceable, and that it can be translated into other languages. Make the name short, easy to spell, say, and is memorable.

Now work on branding. This is where you develop unique attributes to your product that are instantly recognizable, memorable, and that evoke a positive association. You have to recognize that certain colors and ideas portray different personalities, etc. So, come up with a name, color scheme, logo, and packaging that promotes the personality you want to have with your brand.

Branding is extremely important because it says a lot quickly. Someone should look at your product and assimilate all that you stand for and are in a second by thinking about the brand values. Just remember however, that even big brands like COKE won't get away with selling poop flavored soda. You have to add branding to good products, not try to sell bad products with branding.

Part of your marketing campaign should include creating a visual identity. Look at UPS. They say, "What can brown do for you?" They have created a visual identity around the color brown, and they enhance it with big brown trucks, brown uniforms, etc.

When creating your image, and thinking about logos, colors, etc. you may want to recognize that you can create a visual identity without needing a lot of color or pazazz. Look at it this way, if you keep corporate colors to a minimum you keep printing costs lower.

Next, during your marketing campaign, promote your image ideas. For example, if part of your image that you are trying to create is that you make life simpler, and you sell toasters, make sure that when you explain the product attributes, that you do it through service attributes. Let's look at an example so this makes sense. Your product might be really high tech, and have the latest in microchip technology running the sensors on your toaster. You can say this, and no one will care, or you can say what it results in, "Never eat burnt toast again." This is going to get people listening. Instead of pointing out the gadgets, point out what they do for the customer, and in doing so create a great image for yourself. Your marketing needs to enhance the image you want to create. So once again, instead of saying the toaster offers an audible toasting completion alert, you can say, "You'll always get hot fresh toast because a bell will let you know when it is done.

It is through your marketing that you spread your logo, your name, and of course an awareness of your product or service. So, if you want to create an image for yourself, take the time to carefully plan out your corporate logo, make it simple, easy to recognize, and not easy to confuse. Learn about how colors affect emotion, and use appropriate color schemes. Take the time to learn what it is the customer wants to know and hear, and make sure you improve your image by helping the customer to see the benefits and drawbacks as they relate to them, not the general public.
