How can you increase customer loyalty for your company? What are you doing to improve your relationships with your customers? Are they coming back to your company for more and do they refer your organization to their friends and others? For small business owners, customer loyalty is vital to your success. A loyal customer will bring in repeat business and can generate about 80% of your company's sales. Here are some tips that are going to help you build customer loyalty:

- Care about your customers. It is important that you show your customers that they are meaningful to your company. You have to thank them for their support over the years. Thank-you mailers great programs to use in order to thank your customers. When your customers come into your store or call you on the phone you have to really appreciate their business and to let them know how grateful you are for their support. The customers need to feel that you care about them and the best way to do this is by telling them. Customer service is huge to building customer loyalty. When your customers feel like they are treated with respect they have an easier time supporting you and they will even refer you to their friends and others. Spend time training your employees so they know how to talk to your customers and are able to give you quality customer service.
- Be on time. Customers will become loyal to a company when they are able to always keep their word. You need to focus your efforts on being on time with your deliveries and other things. Products need to be delivered to your customers in the manner that they expect in order to keep them happy but to satisfy them. You also need to focus on being on time with some other things as well like your phone calls and emails. Do not make the customers wait long to get a response from you with your emails and phone calls. They expect that you will answer them quickly and you must do this if you are going to focus on building a loyal customer base.
- Customer surveys. One of the best things you can do in order to work on building customer loyalty is by taking the time to conduct customer surveys. You need to ask the customers directly what they want and expect from your company. Never assume you know their wishes as you are probably wrong. Customer surveys give you one of the best opportunities to discover what the customers want and what you can change and do differently in order to deliver to the customers in the right way. Once you conduct the survey and you analyze the results you then need to go into the change mode. First you need to let the customers know that you have heard them and you are now moving forward to change things. Once you let them know you have heard them you now need to make the changes for them to see. This is a great way to help your customers understand that their opinion really does matter to their organization.
- Acknowledge the returning customers. As we spoke about earlier, your returning customers make up a huge portion of your sales. You need to get to know these people. Try to remember their names so they can see that they are special and important to your company. When you make the effort to really acknowledge them and you are working toward improving relationships with all of your customers, you will have an easier time generating sales and building a loyal customer base.
