How to differentiate your product for marketing

For your product to be profitable you need to make it stand out in the market. If you can differentiate your product, you have the ability to have a good corner on the market.

Differentiation can be gone about a couple of different ways.First of all, you can make your customer service stand out more than the actual product.Let consumers know that buying from you will be a good idea because of the level of customer service they will receive.

Another way it to promote the actual product or service that you sell.Make it impossible for them to want to buy anything else because yours is the best. There are many ways to make your product stand out, these are just a few ideas for giving your product the edge.

- Make your product unmistakable.Your packaging may be brighter than all of the competitors, or maybe you have a very unique logo or jingle.Any consumer should know it's your product without even being close enough to read the label.
- Your package and your ads should be eye catching.Even if a consumer wasn't even looking for any thing like your product they should see it and have to take a closer look.
- When the consumer shuts off the TV they should still be whistling your jingle, when they put down the newspaper they should have your ad in their mind, or when they leave the store they can't forget the display they had to stop and look at.If consumers are always thinking about your product they are very likely to talk about with friends and acquaintances.
- Know your audience.Remember that there are many different cultures mixed in to the group.Make sure that your product is marketing in such a way to appeal to all cultures.
- Have the flexibility to adapt to different markets.Change where you need to.It's ok to come up with a new plan at the last second, it keeps you on your creative toes!
- In your advertising, show some hidden symbolism.Be intuitive, sink into their subconscious minds. That is a good place to be when they are shopping.Don't be too deep, you might drown a few souls, but sneak in something for them to think about.
- Be aware of current trends and future trends. If your product is in an upward trend there is almost nothing that can hold you back. But be careful of dwindling trends, no amount of perfect advertising can help you in a trend that is headed the wrong way.

These things will help you with getting your product out into the market the right way.Keeping all of these in mind will push you the furthest. There are a few goals that these ideas should help you attain.Your first goal almost always will be sales increases. You should see a positive change in your sales if your product is positively differentiated.

One of the other goals that companies should all have is customer satisfaction. If you are really offering what you are advertising then there is no reason why consumers wouldn't be happy with what they purchased.

Remember that differentiation can go both ways.If you can't hold up to what your advertising says you have or will do, differentiation will work against you.Be sure to always be truthful in your ads, stretching the truth to sound better than the competition is never a good idea.Don't have the product that everyone knows as the wannabe the best.Just be the best, and show it proudly.
