How to implement a successful cold calling program.

When there will be resistance to a new cold calling program, here is how to get it implemented. There is usually some resistance to anything that is foreign and new. So the key to getting this new cold calling program implemented is going to be making it fun, and interesting.

We all have walked into a new training and had several thoughts going through our heads.

  • What are they trying to push on us now
  • Is this a waste of time, there is work to do
  • It is time to take a nap, I will just sit in the back

Ok, so how do you get paste thoughts like that? Simply by getting the attention of the people you are teaching the program to. This is done in a few steps.

First open big. Humor is an awesome way to open a group up to soak in information. One of the most eye-popping ways, that a trainer obtained the attention of the trainees was with a giant tie with a funny picture on it. This tie also came with a funny story. This got the attention of the group quickly. Now the tie was not an ordinary tie, it was 4 feet long and 2 feet wide.

There is something unique about each of us. Another way to open the door to learning when implementing a successful cold calling program is to find out what is unique about the team you are training. Use this uniqueness to introduce the information.

Enthusiasm will also help you implement a successful cold calling program. Cold calls are rarely someone's favorite part of their job. However, enthusiasm helps when training how to do this. Show excitement about the program you are introducing into the people you expect to use it.

Use role-playing to get rid of the embarrassment. One of the main issues with cold calling is that people are embarrassed to be considered a hindrance. We all want to be liked. Cold calling is not always welcomed with a smile. In fact it is rarely looked at kindly. Therefore the use of role-playing will make it easier to implement a successful cold call program. This can be humorous and fun.

Use expectations and motivation. These two power actions help to show the importance that is related to cold calling. If you set proper expectations of what will be needed for the cold calling plan, and then compliment it with motivational rewards you will see a more excited response.

Knowledge moves mountains of resistance. If the person doing this training is knowledgeable about the information being taught, there will be a wider overall acceptance. Also, if this trainer is able to give this knowledge to the salespeople, it will be much easier for them to be confident in the cold calls they need to accomplish.

Getting the attention of the salespeople you will be working with in order to get the cold calling process to be a success is key. You can use many different tactics, products and tools. The main thing that will make all the difference is going to be the presentation of the information given.

If you can get this team past the embarrassment and fear of cold calling, you can create an atmosphere of relaxation and fun. Cold calling needs to be set up as a way to meet new customers and help them with the products or services they have to offer.
