How to learn from your competitor's mistakes in marketing

How to learn from your competitor's mistakes in marketing? A.J Kit said, " You have no control over what the other guy does. You only have control over what you do". This is an important truth to live by. The thing is that even though you cannot control what the other guy is doing, you can learn from his or her mistakes. Then you can change the future of your world and your business in marketing.

Here are some common mistakes you will find that your competitors have made, and what you can do to avoid making those same choices for yourself.

Know your market

The first mistake that many of your competitors may make, is they have not gotten to know the market. Knowing your market is imperative to successful marketing. They may have a good idea, and even a great product. However, if they do not know their market, they will be missing the big picture.

Knowing your market consists of several important functions of recognition. This means knowing whom your market is. What your market wants. When your market is available. Who the competition is in the market they are working in? What your market can afford to pay for? What is the best way to reach the market you need.

Even if you have a great product, if the price is not right, or if the product is not needed, you will likely lack the needed sells for success. So knowing what you market wants, needs and can afford is going to be the first place you can stop yourself from making a mistake your competitors have made.

Do not leave out important details

If your prices are lower than your competitors, do not neglect to tell the consumers why. Why are your prices lower? If you do not tell the consumers why your prices are low, the automatic assumption is going to be that your products are lower in quality for one reason or another. So make sure to tell the consumer if it is that you were able to purchase in larger quantities. Or if it is because you found a better way to make the product at a lower cost, or whatever the reason is that you can charge less than you competitor. Quality does matter a great deal to the consumer.

Use your spice in the details of who you are

Do not be to general about who you are, what product you offer or what it is you want to do for the consumer. Be sure to use details about what you will be selling. If you are detailed about your product or service, if you show your qualities, you will find that the consumer will show more interest. If you stay vague about what you are offering, then the consumer will not be aware of what you can do for them.

Build the relationship

Your competitor may have forgotten the key to getting business. Trust, and a strong relationship will keep people coming back. If you question this, then think of the last time you drove across town to go to your favorite restaurant, or to purchase a new pair of shoes from your favorite store. People will go out of their way for a good product, good service, and a happy face.

Watch

Take the time to watch what the competitors who are more successful are doing, and also the competitors who just are not making it are doing. Then you will find that these are some of those most common mistakes, which you can avoid in your marketing.

This is how to learn from your competitor's mistakes in marketing. So it will be up to you, to watch, learn and then try your own thing.
