How to market a service
When marketing a service it is easier to get the service noticed by the public if the service has a niche. This niche can be to target a certain age of customers, or maybe even market to customers that are homeowners. This niche does not mean that the service being marketed can't be offered to the whole public. The niche just means that the service can have a selling point to market.
To promote the business and market the service, keep the niche somewhat open and flexible. For example if the service were primarily for preteens and teens, the marketing strategy would not be to just market to the preteens and the teens in their sports teams. But the service will need to be marketed to the parents as well. This allows the public to see that while the service can be very beneficial to preteens and teens, others will like the service as well. The niche has grabbed their attention, but allowed potential customers to see the possibility for all to use the service. Knowing who is most likely to make use of the service being marketed will help the service provider know where to market. To market a product to someone who would never use it is not the best use of money. It is true they may know someone who may use the service someday, but marketing skills and money can be better spent on those who are looking for the service. A service provider would not want to market the service they offer to babies and their mothers if the service is cement foundations. A service that the baby's mothers will look at includes toys, health, home business etc. If the service being marketed is cement foundations, this will need to be marketed in area where houses are being built. A service being marketed needs to have research done for the service. See where those most likely to use the service go and where business cards can be put so they will see the service, and make use of the service. When marketing a service, try community events, or trade shows. These allow businesses to obtain a booth for a minimal fee. The nice thing here is nearly the whole community will come to see what's going on. This gives the service a chance to be seen by many people. If it is at all possible to give a sample of the service, do it. Like if the service were massage therapy, it would be great to give short 3 minute massages for free then have coupons to come in and have a full massage at a discounted price. The public loves free stuff so be sure to have free pencils, or something with the business name and info on it to give away. One of the best ways to market a business is through personal referrals. Give out business cards to those that come in for the service, so they can give them to their friends. But if its personal referrals that will help a service get marketed, then it's a clean environment and good personal relation skills that will get the reffereals. Customers that have a good impression of a business and the service provided will be 10 times more likely to tell their family and friends about it. As a business figures out how to market a service, they should always remember to have good PR skills and keep the work environment clean and efficient. Find a niche that works for the service being marketed, and then be sure to advertise to those most likely to use the service in the near future. Rate This Post
