Investing in your marketing
It is very important in any marketing strategy that you spend your money on the right things. You cant' throw money at every idea and expect to have your marketing produce the results you want. There has to be a rhyme and a reason to everything you do. You should never choose to do any idea because it would be really cool or because a particular person is really attached to it. These are some of the biggest mistakes you can make. You should never attach emotion to your marketing decisions, because there is always that possibility that it may not turn out how you want which can cause hurt feelings and many other problems. You should never spend marketing money on something that you just have a hunch might bring you more business. There must be a reason for everything you undertake. Another important aspect of any marketing plan is congruity. Things need to flow. If your customers see advertisement for a product packaged a certain way and then you are still selling products using old packaging, it can be very distracting and they may think that you are not actually selling what you are advertising. There are so many reasons to make sure that your entire marketing plan is based on the same concept and objective. You need to make sure that your customers can easily translate any marketing efforts you have made to the actual product itself. This may be more expensive in the end but will also give a more congruent feel and impression about your product of services and will be more likely to make them repeat customers. If you have different packaging and other print media all scattered and jumbled together to make your plan, you will at least distract customers and probably alienate them by making them think that you don't really have it all together.
