Using A Blog For Your Small Business

Having a blog is a smart way to effective market your small business. A blog provides you with a forum where you can literally talk about anything that you wish. It provides you with a great opportunity to market the company as you will post new information that is helpful and informative to your customers. They will have a desire to continue returning to your blog as the information found on the blog provides them with the information that they are searching for. This also helps to set your company apart in your industry as you are able to appear as the company "in the know" when it comes to your particular industry.

Internet marketing is the rage among many businesses because of how affordable it is. While you may need to pay to bring in traffic to your website initially, you can easily find a number of ways in which you can generate traffic for your site by using free tools like social media sites. Blogging can fall into 2 categories as you can create your own blog where it's free for you to post information or you can choose to join up with another company in which you may need to pay to post some information. The goal of the blog is to find targeted traffic, which is of great benefit to your website as these individuals will come to your site for more information about your organization or to purchase the products that you are speaking of.

A lot of ecommerce marketers have found that creating a blog is one of the best advertising tools that they can use. You will easily be able to speak to your customers on the blog and then direct them back to your ecommerce site to purchase the products you are speaking of. For niche marketing, this is an effective way to boost traffic and to get in touch with the people that are really interested in what you have to say.

So how do you get started on building your own blog? The best way is to make it an extension of your existing website. This is a smart decision as it will allow you to have more control over the design of the blog but also to keep the customers close to your main page, where you want the traffic to come.

Some people prefer to use Wordpress or Blogger to create their own blog. Both of these programs are easy to use. Individuals that like to have more HTML control should consider Wordpress. It's much easier to manage and to schedule out multiple posts and other things. For small business purposes, it is a great option. If you want just a basic blog, you can opt for blogger but it will come with the domain of blogger.com at the end of it, which is the downside as the traffic isn't really "yours". Once you have the blog formatted and the purpose of it defined you can then start on your posting.

The search engines will reward you for updated content that is fresh and valuable to your customers. You should focus on adding at least 300 new words to your blog each day. This is why it's a smart idea to schedule out several posts so you can have plenty of information to post on the blog without worrying that the search engines will skip you over.

Use catchy titles and quality information in your blog. Your customers will be driven here using a keyword but that doesn't mean that they want to see a post that has the keyword in each sentence. Use it in the title, the first sentence, and the last paragraph or a density of 1-2% per 100 words. This way your customers have quality information and the search engines can link them appropriately to your site.
