If you are looking to increase, your customer base on the internet one form of marketing that you can try is search engine marketing. Search engine marketing is a combination of marketing methods that your business can use to help increase your standings in the search engine results. As a business, you want to do everything that you can to increase your rankings in the search engines because the higher you rank in the search engines the more traffic your website is going to receive. Your website will receive more traffic because the result will show up sooner in the search engine results page.

In order to use search engine marketing to the fullest you are going to need to know about the different marketing methods that are used for search engine marketing. This is important because you will need to use a combination of all of the marketing methods to get the best results possible for your business. The five marketing methods that make up search engine marketing are search engine optimization, pay per click, paid inclusion, social media optimization, and video search marketing.

Here are the steps you will need to follow to use search engine marketing.

Step one:

Find out everything you need to know about key words and phrases. To use search engine marketing you need to know how to determine what key words to use and how you are supposed to use them. Key words are the words or phrases that your customers are going to use to find your product in the search engines, so you want to use words or phrases that you think your customers will use.

Step two:

You need to learn how to use search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is changing your website so that it is search engine friendly. What you are going to want to do is make your website more accessible to search engines, so that they pick up your website when scanning through the search results. To do this you will need to learn what search engines look for when they visit your website, and how they use the information contained in your website.

Step three:

Once your website is considered search engine friendly you will want to submit your website to the various search engines. There are three different ways that you can get your website recognized by the search engines, you can submit your website through a free form, you can pay some search engines to index your website, or you can just sit back and do nothing. When you sit back and do nothing you are hoping that the search engines are going to find your website through the various links that are placed on other websites, but this is a slim chance.

Step five:

Now you need to focus on link popularity, which is important because search engines are going to rank your website based on popularity. To increase your link popularity you will need to increase the number of links that are available that people can use to connect to your website. The best way to do this is to place your links on other websites, either by paying to have them placed, pay per click marketing, or through a barter agreement. When placing your links on various websites ensures that, the websites you are using are quality websites because the higher quality websites will help your page rank higher in the search engines.

Step six:

Review your website's log files on a regular basis because they will show you what the best sources of traffic are for your website. The reason for this is that the log files are going to show you how people are finding your website and what key words they are using to find your website, which can help you to improve your search engine marketing.
