8 ways to make business connections through MySpace

In order to be successful businesses need to make connections with others to help expand their business. Businesses need to make connections with potential customers, vendors, advertisers, distributors, etc. This holds true whether you have a store to run or just a website to run. All businesses need other resources to meet all of the demands that are required to run a business.

Online connections:
Through online social networking sites, such as MySpace, businesses can make these initial connections, but they need to go a few steps further. Keep in mind that not all of the connections you make online will be good connections. As a business person you need to take a good look at each connection you make, before you decide to take the next step. You might want to do some research on some of the companies, find out the history of the company, what they have to offer, and remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

After doing your homework on the potential business connections you have made you will want to go onto the next step, which is to develop those connections into a business relationship. While it is easy to make connections online, developing those connections into a relationship will take some personal work. You might want to start with a phone call, or if you are going to be in their area on business try and set up a business lunch. This will help you connect on a personal level which will help further your relationship.

Signature line:
Always provide a link in your email signature that promotes your profile. By sending this with every email you are increasing your chances that others will go and check out your profile. If your profile is interesting they in turn will talk about it with friends.

Share information:
Share as much information as possible. By providing as much information as you can you are increasing your chances of being found in more places in MySpace's database. Having good searchable content on your profile will help you make connections and the more connections you have the more popular you will become on search engines. This will increase the amount of traffic that comes to your profile, which can also give you more connections.

Send information:
When sending people information there are a few tips you should think about. Before you send or forward any information make sure the person has requested it. If you are interested in contacting them to further your services send a brief email asking for more information about their company and tell them what your company needs. Another tip is to always personalize the information being sent, do not send out mass junk mail. What you are trying to do here is to build connections with people that will further your business.

Get involved:
By being actively involved in MySpace you are increasing your chances of exposure. Participate in any forums that obtain to your area of expertise, offer to help solve problems that other people might be facing, and post problems that you need help solving. By asking and responding to posts you are putting your name out there for other people to see, which increases your exposure.

Endorsements:
By having other businesses endorse your company you are increasing your exposure. By having these well known companies, who usually carry a lot of influence because of their brand name, you are increasing the amount of weight your profile carries. To get these companies to endorse your page you can send them emails asking for their endorsements or you can advertise on your page that you are in need of endorsements.

Searching:
By utilizing the mySpace search option you can find other business that are in offering services that you are in need of. Once you find these companies simply send them an email asking about their services and what they can do to help your company.

Word of mouth:
This method works for almost every aspect of business. By posting comments on other profiles, posting blogs, or posting bulletins that say you are in need of solid business connections you are going to increase your network. By posting on other profiles comment space everybody can read it, when you post on a bulletin or a blog only your friends can read it, but they in turn can repost the message so that their friends can read them.

However you decide to go about making business connections on MySpace you want to remember to check out the connections before developing a relationship. The goal is not to make the most connections you can, but to make the best connections you can in order to expand your business.
