In order to compete in the business world as a small business you are going to need to create a website. When creating a website the one thing that you want to avoid is copying the look and feel of a website created by a larger company. Larger companies are going to have more of a following then you are because of how established they are. As a small business owner what you need to do is to create a website that is going to stand out on the internet and set you apart from everybody, including large companies.

Here are some tips that you can follow to create the best small business website.

Tip one:
Larger companies can successfully create generalized websites and people will still purchase from them, this is due to the fact that they are already an established company and they do a larger volume in sales on a regular basis. As a small business you are still establishing your company so you will not want to create a generalized website. Instead you are going to want to create a website that focuses on the specialized products that you are selling. What this means is you are going to use your most popular item or service and center everything on your website around that.

Tip two:
Give your customers as much information about the products that you are selling as possible. Some of the more common information that you are going to want to include is size charts, dimensions, expert reviews, customer feedback, delivery timetables, shipping rates, and anything else that you or the customer might feel is valuable. You also want to make sure that you include a picture of the products that you are selling so that they can see what the product looks like. Providing all of this information on your website increases your chances of selling products because your customers can do all of their research on a specific product on your website.

Tip three:
You want to make sure that your website is user friendly. If your website is too complicated and certain features are not easy to find you are going to lose sales to potential customers because they will move onto a website that is more users friendly. A good rule of thumb to follow when creating a user friendly website is the three click rule, your potential customers shouldn't have to go click more than three times to find what they are looking for. To help your customers find what they are looking for in a matter of seconds you can provide an on-site search feature.

Tip four:
No matter how tempting it is you want to avoid using flashy artwork and advertisements on your website. Using flashy artwork or advertisements on your website leave your website looking cluttered and confusing, which is going to cause potential customers to move onto other websites. While it is normal to include advertisements from affiliates where you place them is going to be important. You want to place these advertisements toward the bottom of the page, never at the top of the page. If you place their advertisements towards the top of the page your potential customers will become distracted from your products, which can cause you to lose a potential sale. In order to increase your chances of making the sale you want your potential customers to see what you have to offer first.

The difference between having a good website and a great website can be hundreds of dollars in potential sales. To have a successful website for your small business you want to do everything you can to make it stand out from the crowd.
