Even small businesses have found that email and internet marketing is one of the most cost effective marketing techniques to use in today's society. The reason for this is that most people have access to the computer and to the internet for a portion of their day, and more and more people are getting high speed internet connections in their homes. With how many people are using the internet to send and receive emails and to do their shopping if you do not start using email and internet marketing for your small business you are not going to be able to keep up with the competition.

Here are some tips that you can follow for email and internet marketing. By following these tips you will be able to take advantage of this marketing style to the best of your ability.

Tip one:
There are numerous ways and types of internet marketing and in order to be effective you will need to take advantage of as many types of internet marketing techniques that you can for your small business. The marketing techniques that you can use include search engine marketing, pay per click, banner ads, email, and many others. When choosing how many marketing techniques you will be using you will need to take your budget into consideration, however, the more techniques that you use to deliver your message the more traffic you are going to be drawing to your small business.

Tip two:
Never send out emails during the holidays because for most people the holidays are a busy time. When people are busy they are often not near a computer or they are not on the computer as much as they normally are so they tend to neglect their email. Keeping this in mind as soon as they are able to check their email, which is overloaded from not being checked in a long period, they are simply going to delete everything that they do not feel is important. What this means is that emails from business that are advertising some kind of sale or something else will get deleted without a second look.

Tip three:
Be perfectly clear in your email and internet marketing message about what you expect your recipients to do and what they can expect from you, meaning what you will do for them. You also need to make sure that you follow through on what you have said you will do, your reputation is going to depend on if you follow your word or not. For example, if you have said that you will not give out your subscription list to a third party, don't do it. Sticking to your word is going to help you build a trusting relationship with your customers.

Tip four:
Make sure that you take the time to personalize your emails with the recipients first and/or last name, which one you use is going to depend on which one is more appropriate for your ad campaign. If you do this you are going to make the person receiving the email feel more like a person and less like a number, which is going to improve the chance that the person is going to read the email and perhaps risk a click or two, instead of simply deleting the email. Always make sure that you include a link that allows your subscribers to unsubscribe if they wish. This link should be easy to find and easy to use.

Tip five:
Your landing page is the first thing that people are going to see once they have clicked on your link, no matter where they have clicked the link it will take them to your landing page. You want to make sure that your landing page is visually pleasing for people to look at and is easy to use, if not once people get there they will not do anything else.
