One of the first things you will need to determine and decide on long before you hire anyone to work with you is what skills and abilities your business needs.Despite the fact that many small business owners start as a one person operation, that can't last for very long with a successful business and you will eventually have to hire some other people.This is a great way that small businesses contribute to the economy and the world in general.You should hire out for the positions that you want to do least or are the least comfortable doing well.If you are a great accountant and have lots of experience and skill in that area, then that shouldn't be the first person you hire.Look for the holes in you skill set and fill them with other people that can do a better job than you.Many successful business leaders claim that their success was achieved in part by hiring people who were better at certain things than they were and then relying on them to make good decisions.

You need to make the job enticing.You don't necessarily have to compete with the large corporations on salary figures, but you need to make other compelling reasons for people to join the business.If there will be opportunities for growth and adaptation then you need to be sure and make this clear in the interview process.Applicants are looking at salaries closely but will also be willing to hear about other benefits that go along with the money they receive.You can choose to offer medical benefits packages that they may not find elsewhere or offer other things like gym memberships or other health programs.People care about how they will feel at work, so you want to make them comfortable and aware of their surroundings.Say and show that you really do care about your employees and what they contribute to the business and you will find that the loyalty and skill they bring will equate to success for your business for years to come.
