How to find a location to run your small business from

Finding the right location of your small business can be one of the most important factors in its success or failure. It is all about location. You may have the most creative and well run establishment around, but if you are in a location that doesn't need or want what you are selling, your business will most likely fail.

When deciding where to run your small business from there are a few things you will want to consider:
- Do you have merchandise to sell that needs to be displayed on a street front window?
- Can you manage most of your business online or by telephone?
- Costs of local suppliers to deliver to you
- Your delivery costs to consumers
- Who will your neighbors be and what are they selling?
- The looks and atmosphere of the neighborhood

There are many tools on the internet available to help you find a good market for what you are selling. There are many resources for local business departments and marketing in your local areas to help you get an idea of what consumer's needs are. Also, you can take a look at the local phone book to get an idea of what kind of similar businesses there may be.

You also may want to use a local commercial real estate agent to help you in your decision to buy.Ask other business owners there opinions of the area or who can help you with some of the processes of looking around and buying. No one will be able to help you more with good ideas then someone who already has a successful business up and running.

Of course the pricing of your new business is going to be very important, but make sure you actually go take a look at the place and the neighborhood before you just buy because the price is right.Things you will want to make sure you know about before you relocate are:
- Are you looking to buy your space or lease it?
- If you are leasing, how much is rent and what utilities will be included
- What changes are you going to be allowed to make to the space
- Are there any zoning laws?
- Is there enough space for storing supplies or warehousing?
- Do you need a space for loading and unloading?
- What is the parking space like?

All of these questions are things you need to have answers to and planned out ahead of time when searching for your location.

Basically, there are two major factors when searching for your space:
First, the actual space itself. Is the location going to be physically attractive to consumers and is it going to fit your business needs? Will you be able to completely put your business plan into this space?

Second, is there a market for what you are selling? Is the area wanting and needing what you have to give? Are there other similar businesses in your nearby vicinity?Have you made a clear plan of what your monthly expenses might be, and also have a limit as to how much you can spend?

There is no need to spend time or energy looking at locations that you cannot afford or that you know your business would not fit or do well in.So, once you have answered these questions, researched and planned out what you want and need, you are ready to start the search to find the right location for your small business.
