International lawyer

Aren't lawyers basically slimeballs?
Wow - what an aggressive question to begin with! We've all heard the jokes. We've all heard the accusations, the little comments. Lawyers are evil. Lawyers are corrupt. Lawyers are - nasty and vicious. Lawyers want all your money! Lawyers want your every last penny! Lawyers will steal your widowed mother's last penny and leave her to rot in the street! Lawyers, we all know, are money-hungry dishonest predators in thousand dollar suits! "What's the difference between a lawyer and a bucket of pig guts? The bucket." Etc. etc. Yes, it's true, lawyers have even been compared to pig guts. But are lawyers really that bad? Don't lawyers serve a pretty important function in any law-abiding society? Yes, they do.
How do lawyers serve an important function in any law-abiding society?

Lawyers are trained to be experts in the law. The law is a huge, vast, complicated thing. The law has many twists and turns, many loopholes, many corners. The law is a very, very difficult thing to grasp. You try to grasp it and it slips away. We need lawyers, therefore, to help us through all the twists and turns of the law. We need lawyers as much as we need judges. And it's true that there are bad lawyers out there - there are bad people in every business, the law included. It's true that there are irresponsible lawyers out there, lawyers who are only in the business to make a buck, ambulance chasers and so forth. But for every nasty, oily, greasy lawyer out there, there's also a good one; there's a good one doing a good job for his or her community.
So lawyers just serve their community - what's an international lawyer, then?
An international lawyer (also called an international attorney) is a lawyer that serves the world community. An international lawyer is trained in international law. "International" means having to do with more than one nation - it has to do with the combined nations of the world. An international lawyer, then, has training in an especially vast area of the law. An international lawyer or attorney isn't licensed just to serve in one state, as most lawyers are. An international lawyer or attorney deals with things on an international level.
What does it mean to deal with things on an international level?
Well, for one thing, it means that you're dealing with issues that go between two countries rather than just between two people. Of course, you're still dealing with just people at the basic, most fundamental level, but in general you're dealing with these vast distances. International law is complicated because laws differ from nation to nation. An international lawyer or attorney has to be very well-versed in all of these different laws. International lawyers or attorneys deal with businesses that go back and forth from one country to another. Let's say a country in the U.S., for example, makes a deal with a company in the U.K. The companies are going to join forces and become one big huge super company. Both companies would have lots of international lawyers on hand to see that thing got done correctly. Or let's say that a government is guilty of doing something really despicable, like wiping out half of its population in a huge, grotesque experiment with nuclear weapons. The other nations of the world might try to step in and try this government for its crimes. International lawyers or attorneys would definitely be called upon in this instance.
How do I learn more about international lawyers and attorneys?
