Tips for creating beautiful marketing materials, from leaflets, to pamphlets, to emails

When you know whom your target audience is, and then you know what they will be interested in. The statements you place on your marketing materials needs to be direct statements that will appeal to the reader. These are key writing techniques that will get your readers attention. Use short sentences that will be one-liners that catch the reader's eye. Paragraphs that contain good information that is not confusing will get the point across better. They are also more likely to read a conversation that is friendly and personal. With this in mind, it is fun and easier to read when you are writing more than statistics and numbers. Make your marketing material tell a story or visit with your reader about your product. Tip #2 Using the right font is also important. More is not better where the font is concerned. You do not want to take from the message itself. If you want to use a couple different fonts, that is fine. However, if you get more than two fonts going, you will see that there is so much going on the message will be overlooked. The base message, or paragraph should be a clean and easy to read font. The headline can always be a little sassier, as long as it is readable. Use bolding, underlining and italics to make a point, however again keep this type of font to a minimum. Tip #3 Maintain a smooth flow. As said earlier, let your marketing material tell a story. This is because if something is jumpy and hard to read, people will pass it by. Tip #4 Use your white space on your marketing materials well. The reason is that just because there is some white area, it does not mean you have to fill it up. The photo needs to tell the story of what your marketing material is all about. Make the graphics and photos do the talking for you. It is important that you get the readers attention and the photo or graphic is the way to do this. One of the best examples I can think of is for a water purifying company. To this day that water still sounds better than any other water I have ever had. The graphic that was use was a beautifully green leaf and a big drop of beautiful blue water. I see that graphic and it makes me thirsty. That is what it is all about. Get the reader to want what you have, by simply looking at a picture.
