Computers are wonderful communication tools. They allow us to use the internet and send emails, write blogs, and instant message. We can write clear, easy to read documents on our computers. They are perfect tools for reaching someone else or conducting business. With so many options for communication through your computer, how will you possibly figure out how to take advantage of all these options? Just learning to email can be a bit of a strain. Blogging is another matter, and instant messager is its own system. But what about faxing? Don't you need a huge fax machine to send or receive a fax? Here are a few basic instructions for faxing from your pc?

1. Remember that you need a fax modem if you are going to send faxes from your pc. You simply can't send them otherwise. Also, check to see if you operating system, Windows Vista, Windows XP, etc., is set up to allow you to send and receive faxes. If you are struggling to find out what is wrong with your pc when you send a fax, first check on these things. If you don't have a fax modem or if your computer is not confured to allow faxing, this would be the place to start.
2. Get the document you want to send ready, including preperation of a cover sheet for your document. A cover sheet will probably want to include your name and contact information.
3. Turn on your faxing software. This will probably be one of the Microsoft fax softwares.
4. There should be somesort of an icon that allows you send faxes. This might say `send new' or `send fax.' Click one of these icons. This should bring up a window that allows you to enter the fax information, including the fax number of the recipient. Always include all the digits-meaning long distance numbers, just as though you were calling the person on the phone.You should also be able to indicate here if you want to put a cover sheet with your fax.
