When you want to view a videocast, you have to have certain equipment. The question becomes, can you do videocasting on your iPod? And the answer is on some yes, and on others no, it just depends on the type of iPod or MP3 player you have. However, you can do videocasting on a computer, and on some other MP3 devices.

The following iPod or iPod equivalents allow for videocasting:

  1. The Apple iPod Nano: This is quickly becoming one of the most popular iPod options, and it is no wonder why, with the super slim design, and lots of features. If you want to videocast on this particular iPod, you can, however, it is important to recognize that you probably have to use iTunes to download the videocast you want to view. The battery life is not as great as other iPods because of how small it is, the slim design does not leave room for much of a battery. But, it is a durable and sleek iPod, so that can be forgiven. If you want to stream your videocast, not download it, this iPod is still a great choice as you will experience far less skips.
  2. The Apple iPod 80GB: This is another iPod you can use for videocasting, and unlike the Nano, this iPod supports a longer battery life. It also offers some fun features beyond the videocasting capabilities, such as games, brighter picture, and more room for videos and audio files. So, with this iPod you can download and store your videocasts until you are ready to watch them. The files will likely need to be downloaded or streamed from iTunes, but with the way this iPod works, it makes getting files easier than ever. If there are files you want to download or stream from another service, you will likely be able to as this iPod was created with some really good support formats to make it compatible with many downloading services.

The above are the 2 iPod options, a video iPod will offer you the ability to videocast, but the older versions of iPod are just for audio files. If you are going to be purchasing an iPod for watching videocasts, it is important to look for one that will be compatible with the downloading or streaming service you wish to use. It will do you little good if you can't get the file you want to stream or download to stream or download.

  1. Zune: This is the Microsoft version of the iPod. This is a great iPod alternative for viewing videocasts as it is very compatible, and can be used with just about any service that you subscribe to. It has 30GB of memory, so you can store and view files, but you will not want to store too many. This is also a great option for videocasts because it has a bright 3 inch screen, which makes it easy to see the videocast.
  2. Creative Zen Vision M: This is another great iPod alternative. It is again easy to use with any downloading service as it offers a simple interface. It is obviously capable of playing videos, but can also do much more, so if you are going to buy a MP3 player for video watching and more, this is an excellent choice. This MP3 player has a great screen, as well, though not as large as some of the other options. And, one of the other fun features is that it offers the ability to support a wide range of online video and audio formats.
