Church podcasting, and other uses

While you might be a highly religious person you might have to miss church on a few occasions due to an emergency or conflicting plans, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on what your church has to offer. Many churches are starting to use podcasting to make a variety of services available to their followers or any others who might be interested.

Here are two ways that churches can use podcasts:

1. To make recordings and make them available on the internet for downloading.

One thing about church podcasts that many people might not be aware of is that they are starting to develop podcast directories that are dedicated solely to church podcasts; you can even find these directories separated by the different religions. But you don't have to use the church podcast directories to find religious or spiritual podcasts because they are also available on the regular podcast directories. But keep in mind if you are looking for a certain churches podcast you should check out your churches website to see if they have started using podcasting.

Here are some of the reasons as to why the church uses podcasts.

Reason one:
Some churches publish podcasts to help attract more members. They will publish their podcasts on a variety of podcast directories, as well as podcasting sites that are designed for churches to help attract attention. For them this is a free form of advertising to new members, the ones who want to subscribe to the podcasts might decide to come and visit the church in the next few weeks.

Reason two:
Aside from trying to attract new members churches might also use podcasts to provide their already faithful followers with things to listen to in the car or while they are working at home. By recording choir concerts you can provide your users with Gospel music that they agree with at no charge to them. They can also download any of their favorite sermons or speeches to play over and over again.

Reason three:
Another reason that churches publish podcasts, such as live feeds, is for their followers who are unable to make it to church for any type of reason. While they might not be able to make it to church they will still be able to listen to the sermon or services at the same time or they can download it to listen to later while it is being broadcast live. Sometimes people will find themselves out of town on vacation and will not feel comfortable going to another church, so podcasting allows them to stay connected with their own church while away from home.

Reason four:
If you visit the church podcasting websites you will see that some of the churches are advertising that the reason they are podcasting their sermons is because of how many people have quit going to church because of the lack of separation of church and state. While thereare politics involved to a certain extent in all religions, it is not a proven fact that the politics have taken over the church. But if you feel this has happened at your church and you are looking for a new church that separates church and state you should look at some of the church podcasting sites to see what you can find.

Just remember that church podcasts like other podcasts are designed for a target group of people, and the church podcasts are even more divided because of the different religions. But there are numerous directories available to help you find that perfect church podcast.
