However, do not ever use a vacuum to clean the inside of your computer because it will generate a lot of static electricity and will damage the internal components. If you really want to use a vacuum then use a battery powered vacuum that is specifically designed to do this job. Or even better you can use a can that will blow air into any parts that need cleaning.

Tip #3: Always turn your computer off before cleaning it
Sounds like a no brainer right, but some people neglect to do it and end up doing some serious damage to the computer itself. You can easily fry your motherboard if you try and clean any internal or external parts without shutting the computer off completely.

Tip #4: Keep food and drink away from the computer
One of the easiest and best ways to keep your computer clean and running properly is to make sure that you keep food and drinks away from it. Things can be spilt easily when you're typing or working online, and especially if you have young children. It doesn't take much to tip over a can of soda or to have some sticky hands touch the keyboard, screen, or tower. Do yourself a favor and keep anything that will harm the computer away from it.

Tip #5: Be aware of what solvents you are using
Some cleaning solvents will cause an allergic reaction with individuals so you need to take caution when you're cleaning around other people and yourself. And some types of solvents can damage the case. The best types of liquids to use on your computer is rubbing alcohol or water.
