If you want your computer to run better then yes you do need a registry cleaner. Your computer will run better if you occasionally clean your Windows system registry. However, if you do not know what you are doing you should not use a registry cleaner, ever.

The Windows registry is supposed to keep track of all your Windows settings including the hardware configuration, user preferences, file association, system policies, and installed software. The Windows registry is then the database in which Windows can keep track of the relationships between the hardware, software and the operating system of your computer.
Problems with your registry can make a Windows system slower, less reliable, and unbootable. In extreme cases it can only be fixed by reinstalling the whole operating system. Because of these problems that can arise from your Windows registry it is a really good idea to have a registry cleaner.

Your Windows registry can grow very large over time. This tends to slow down your computer and it can make your computer unstable. As you use your computer there are things that end up on your registry that are not always used and can end up confusing Windows during the startup. When you use the registry cleaner it can actually make Windows run faster.

The registry cleaner isn't meant to be messed around with to try and figure things out. The registry cleaner should be used only by those who know what they are doing. You can do a lot of damage to your computer system by messing around the registry cleaner. Before you proceed in doing a Windows registry clean it is highly recommended that you make a system restore just in case you clean something that wasn't meant to be cleaned.

There are different types of registry cleaners that you can find on the internet. A simple search for registry cleaner can find you one that will fit your needs and your technological skills. Some registry cleaners have "safe modes" where you can exclude certain files from being cleaned. However, these "safe modes" are not perfect and you can still delete something off the register that was needed. Other registry cleaners can clean the browser's temp files and delete any unneeded files. Some experts recommend that you use a registry cleaner once a week but messing with the registry so much can create too many problems. If you do happen to use a registry cleaner it is best to only use it when you are having major issues with your computer.

Registry cleaners are dangerous to mess around with and can end up doing more harm than good to your Windows computer system. This is why many computer experts recommend that you never use a registry cleaner. Some experts insist that there is no difference in how fast your computer will run if you use the registry cleaner.

The only thing you get from using the registry cleaner is a clean registry and more problems than you started out with say many other experts. Any registry cleaner or registry utility that is poorly written can remove or change the registry improperly. This can cause major issues with all Windows programs and can even cause the computer to not work at all.

For anyone that wants to use a registry cleaner it is highly recommended that they have advanced computer skills. That a backup is made as a system restore which will put your computer right back to where it was before you ran a registry clean. Proceed with caution when using a registry clean and don't expect miracles, your computer could be slow for a myriad of other problems.
