Getting the right monitors to promote healthy eye sight for your employees


Most businesses today use computers for some aspect of their business, but what they use computers for and how often they use computers is going to vary based on the type of business that you run. But one thing is certain no matter what kind of business you run if you are going to be using computers you are going to need to buy monitors to go with those computers. And if you have employees who sit in front of the computer screen all day you are probably concerned about their eye sight and you want to do everything in your power to make sure that their eyesight remains healthy.

Many people are under the assumption that you can buy different types of monitors that will promote healthy eyesight for your employees. And while it is true that there are different monitors you can buy the best way to promote healthy eyesight is to make sure that your monitors are positioned correctly and that the employees are not straining their eyes to see the screen. So to be sure that your monitors are placed correctly you should follow some simple positioning tips.

Here are some tips about positioning your monitors for optimal use.

Tip one:
The first thing that you are going to want to think about is the distance between the monitor and the employee or the viewing distance. Basically you want to be able to sit a comfortable distance from the monitor but you still want to be able to read all text easily and in the correct position. The best viewing distance is between 20 to 40 inches from the eye to the front surface of the screen.

Tip two:
The next thing that you want to do is to be sure that the computer monitor is placed directly in front of you so that your body faces the computer monitor while you are working, if they do need to be off to one side it should be no more than 35 degrees to either side. If you work from mostly printed material then you are going to want to place the printed materials in front of you and place the monitor as close to the printed material as possible.

Here are some tips about buying monitors for your office.

Tip one:
One thing that you want to think about is the aspect ratio of the monitor. For office use you are going to want to choose a monitor that has an aspect ratio of 15:9 or 16:10. Basically these monitors are going to be wider than your home monitors but those aspect ratios are going to make the monitor the best choice for displaying presentations.

Tip two:
Another important thing that you want to consider when you are choosing monitors for your office is the actual screen size, the reason that the screen size is important because it affects how well we can see the monitor when it is placed in the proper location. You are going to want to choose a screen size of 17 inches for regular office use, but for professional and multimedia applications you are going to want to choose a screen between 19 and 20 inches for the best viewing.

Tip three:
Finally you are going to want to think about the resolution that the screen offers. Many computers come with a variety of types of resolutions so your employees can pick which one suits them best. One thing that you want to think about is that the higher the resolution the clearer the pictures will be, but the icons will also become smaller. The best resolution for heavy graphics applications are 1280 x 1024 or higher. For regular office use you are going to want to use something lower.
