Anyone who owns a computer has heard how important it is to backup your PC otherwise known as your personal computer. When you make a backup of your PC or the files on your PC you are keeping that information safe in a place other than your computer. If your PC would ever crash or those files become corrupted the backup will help you to restore the files you need or want. There are different ways to backup your PC. You can backup your files by burning them onto a CD or simply putting them on a memory stick. You can also backup your PC on your own time schedule. Some people backup for every file while other backup their PC on demand. No matter how or when you backup your PC it will save important information that you don't want corrupted or personal things you will want to save like family pictures. Every operating system has a way to back up your computer. It doesn't matter whether you have Windows, Linux, or a Mac you will be able to find information on the internet on how to back up each operating system. There is also plenty of software available that is specifically made for backup on a PC. Most of this software will guide you through the process of backing up your data and other pertinent information. There is free software you can use for backup and some you can pay for.

If you can't move or don't wish to move a certain file that is on your computer you will then want to make a note of where that file is located. Next, look at your operating system. The Windows XP operating system has backup software included for the business edition. The home edition requires some extra steps; Go to the start menu and choose ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, and then BACKUP. The backup wizard will run and on the final screen you can click the ADVANCED button and it will allow you to automatically schedule times to continue the backups. This backup wizard will also allow you to create a system recovery disc that allows you to boot and rescue your data if Windows gets damaged in any way. You don't need to back up everything you have on your computer. The software and applications can be reinstalled with the original discs that came with your computer. The most important data you will want to backup will be your personal effects such as bank account data, personal emails, pictures and even favorite websites. All of these files should be stored in an easy to find place that will make it easier to run the backup software of your choosing. When you are looking at making a backup of your PC there are a few other things that you should pay attention to. Think of doing a backup as soon as you have any type of personal information that will be hard to recreate. Don't procrastinate or you may end up losing all the information.
