How do I change my Yahoo mail password if I forgot it?

Few things can be more annoying than needing to access your e-mail account and not being able too. There are many things that can go wrong when you are working on the internet.Naturally, Yahoo has recognized that human error and forgetfulness are not out of the ordinary. Therefore there are a number of ways that Yahoo mail services can get you back on track and reading your e-mails even if you have forgotten your password.

If you think that you are entering the correct password on the Yahoo mail login page and the system is not recognizing it, consider the following...
- Passwords are case sensitive. This means that although you may be entering the correct password, it may be formatted incorrectly. For example, if your password is "Yahoo" and you type in "yahoo" (not capitalizing the first letter) the system will not recognize "yahoo" as the correct password. Make sure that your caps lock key on your keyboard has not accidentally been turn on, making your words capitalized on accident.

- Make sure that you have entered your Yahoo ID correctly. If you have entered your password correctly but not your Yahoo mail ID, the system will recognize the identification process as incorrect and you may receive a message that the password is incorrect rather than the ID.Remember also that case sensitivity applies to your Yahoo ID and to make sure that all capitalizations and numerical entries are exactly correct.

If you simply cannot remember your password, Yahoo can provide you with a new password. When you forget your password, Yahoo mail begins the re-assignment process by confirming that you are in fact the rightful user of the e-mail account. You must confirm your identity by providing the following information:
- Your birthday (month, date and year)
- Your ZIP (or Postal) code
- Your Country
- Your Yahoo mail user ID
- Verification of a security image (when you get to the screen that will ask for this information you will see a graphic of numbers or letters, in order to make sure that the page and the information contained there are secure, you must be able to read this sequence and enter it into the space provided).

If you have also forgotten your Yahoo ID, you can retrieve it by going through the above steps to confirm your identity and then providing an alternate e-mail address associated with your account.Yahoo mail can send you your Yahoo ID at that alternate e-mail address. After receiving your Yahoo ID you will have to go back to the Yahoo site to enter in the complete information to re-assign yourself a new password.

When dealing with passwords there are undoubtedly going to be concerns with issues of security. How do you know that the re-assignment of passwords is not going to compromise the security of your account?Furthermore, what is to stop someone who wants to access your e-mail account and tries to do so by changing your password?Yahoo provides you with a level of security by submitting your ID password by using something called SSL.If you are interested in reading more about what SSL is and about the other security procedures that are provided to you when you sign up for a Yahoo mail account, you select the "More information about password security" option on the sign in page of your Yahoo mail account.

If you have gone through all of the above steps and are still unable to get your password sent to you or you are otherwise unable to access your Yahoo mail account, there is an alternate "Try sign-in help" button that can be found following selecting the option that says "forgot password."
