If you need a new computer monitor, (or you are buying a computer monitor, for the first time), there are certain factors, that you need to take into account. One of the first considerations that you need to take into account, is what kind of work, you will be doing on your computer. For example-You will need a computer monitor with a high resolution if you are doing detailed work, such as graphic design, or if you want bright colors, you might want to buy a computer monitor with a glossy finish. Once you have decided what type of work you will be doing on the computer, you then make a better determination, on what type of computer monitor to buy. Here is what you need to know about how to choose a computer monitor-

  • How much space do you have? Before buying a computer monitor you need to look closely at your desk and decide how much space you want to dedicate to your computer monitor. If you don't want to deal with a large and somewhat clunky monitor, then you may want to purchase a LCD monitor. This type of computer monitor allows, for sleek and flat screen. This kind of monitor can provide you with an computer monitor that does not take up a lot of desk space. If you are looking for a monitor, that has bright colors and a built in anti-glare system, then an LCD screen would also make a good choice. LCD computer monitors also have the maximum resolution that is possible. However, you should keep in mind that these type of computer monitors are a little more expensive, then your run of the mill computer monitors. Many computer users feel that the extra price is worth it, for the benefits that are inherent in this type of computer monitor.
  • What kind of videos will you be watching? If you will be watching a lot of digital videos, computer experts also recommend that you purchase a LCD computer screen. One of the other benefits of using an LCD screen is that many of the newer models have a Digital Video Interface (DVI). This allows for the highest quality of video play. You should be aware, however, that the graphic card, in your computer, must be able to support DVI.
  • Is size a factor to consider? Many times users feel that they have to choose the largest computer screen possible, in order to get the best resolution. However, this is not necessarily true. The main focus is to make sure that the computer screen you choose, is easy to see and highly readable. Many times, as the screen gets larger, the resolution gets worse. For personal computer use, experts recommend not choosing a computer monitor, that is larger then 19 inches. Finally, you want to make sure that the resolution on your computer screen is at least 1280x1024 pixels.
  • What type of speakers do you want to use? Most computer users choose between wall mounts and speakers. Keep in mind that these are extras that you will need to consider, outside of the computer monitor purchase. While you can find great monitors without these extras, you may need to purchase them for convenience, or personal preference.
These are just a few of the factors that you should consider, before making a computer monitor purchase. It can be overwhelming if you are unfamiliar with the specifications of any computer monitor. If you find that you are unable to determine the right computer monitor, for you, do not hesitate to consult a computer professional, who can help to guide you in your selection.
