How to clean an iPod

ipod45382080.jpg Cleaning and protecting your iPod is a sure way to help it last throughout the years.Since they are a smaller electrical device cleaning can be tricky as you want to be sure you get into all the small places. And it doesn't matter how much you try to keep them clean, if you're using it every day it's bound to see some dust, dirt, and unfortunately some dings and scratches. There is hope however on learning how to clean an iPod and hopefully this article will give you a few quick tips on doing so.

Tip #1:Don't ever use sprays or solvents
Because this is an electronic device and one with especially small parts, you don't every want to spray it with solvents, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners. While those might work nicely on your kitchen counter they will almost always definitely destroy your iPod.If you're a fanatic about having things super clean and sanitized then you should invest in some disinfecting wipes or some cotton swabs. The wipes will easily help you clean the outside of your iPod and keep it sanitized (if that's what you're worried about), and the cotton swabs will come in handy when it comes to tiny crevices.

Tip #2:Be gentle
When you're cleaning your iPod you don't have to press really hard to get it nice and clean. It's not like cleaning a car. While it's not an extremely fragile piece of equipment, it may buckle if you are pushing to hard on the surface when you clean it.

Tip #3:Always unplug the cables
Before you begin the cleaning process make sure that all your cables are unplugged and the "Hold" switch is moved to "Hold."Neglecting to unplug the cables can cause damage to your cables as well as to your iPod if any cleaning solution gets into the plug hole.

Tip #4:Avoid getting moisture in openings
It's best if you cover up any openings in your iPod before you clean it because if you get any kind of moisture in the iPod it can completely damage the inside and you'll never be able to use it again. Now that would be a waste of money wouldn't it?You can cover the openings such as places where cords plug in with a small amount of tape or some iPods simple have a cover the folds over the opening when the cord is removed.Always make sure the covering is down or you have something over that open space. It will save you time and money in the long run.

Tip #5:Buy some scratch removal product
After you have cleaned your iPod you will now be able to tell (if you couldn't already before) where all the scratches are. Most if not all iPod's will encounter an unfortunate event that will leave scratches on the front, back or both sides. There are some great products out there to help get rid of those scratches and to help it look shiny and new once again.RadTech's $21 Ice Cream kit. This kit includes two kinds of polishing solutions and polishing cloths to help get rid of scratches from your iPod.Keep in mind that the most effective scratch removers are also usually the most abrasive and will probably require more than one try at getting rid of the scratches.

Learning how to clean an iPod and to keep it free from scratches and dents will help keep it in better shape much longer and you will have gotten your money's worth.
