Lens: when comparing digital cameras you will want to look at the lens that is included, as well as other lens options it has. You may find a camera with a wide angle, panorama, or other type of lens. Also, the lens makes a huge difference in the quality of picture.

Mega pixel: often times people compare only mega pixels and zoom capabilities of digital cameras. Mega pixels are important, but that does not mean that every 6 mega pixel cameras is equal, because it has 6 mega pixels. So, look at the amount of mega pixels, but look at them in relation to other features.

Price range: when making comparisons, make sure that you compare price range. Obviously, it makes no sense to compare a $100 camera with a $3000 camera. However, you will want to recognize with the number of new digital cameras flooding the market you may need to compare some really wide price ranges.

Type of camera: You have to compare apples to apples. You will not want to compare a point and shoot camera with a digital camcorder that also takes photographs. So, when making a comparison, be sure to compare the right kinds of cameras.

Check reviews: A way to compare digital cameras really well is to look at the various reviews. Many websites offer options for comparing the different cameras on the market. So, check out the bigger digital camera websites, and look at what they say. Then look at what people who have actually bought, and use the cameras are saying. Reviews from manufacturers, and from consumers are important.

Check consumer reports: you will want to certainly look at what the consumer reports say about the various digital cameras on the market. This is going to really help you know which digital camera is best, or better than another.

When you want to compare digital cameras, make sure you compare the right things, and make sure you look at what people who actually own the cameras are saying about them. You may find that one brand or another gets rave reviews, while another, although seemingly comparable does not get nearly as good of reviews.
