How to set up a Podcast

Podcast- a manner in which files to the internet are published allowing users to automatically receive new files (by subscription). Now that we know what a Podcast is, let's take a closer look at how to set up a Podcast.Podcasting can often be a difficult task for many of those attempting to do so.There are several different steps taken to set up a Podcast, and they all require some technical competence that the average web surfer usually does not possess. There are new companies coming out with simpler ways to create a pod cast every day.Until then, let me take you through some steps that may help in setting up your own Podcast.

Develop a Plan
You must have a clear vision in your mind.Who is your main target audience?Or in other words, who will be listening to your pod cast?Is it your high school buddies; your co-workers; your family members. This will give you a focal point at where to start with your pod cast. You must also think about things such as, the name of your pod cast, what you want to say, and more importantly who will be saying it.Take notes, and prepare, prepare, prepare!Although some of us have a knack for spontaneous pod casting shows, the majority of us need to know the show ahead of time.Even the best pod casters prepare in advance and work hard to furnish good content.

Record
Preparation is also the key here.If you have taken the time to practice what you are going to record, it will take less time to do so.Using shorter recording intervals will give you less chance of mess ups.It doesn't take much hardware to record a pod cast.Microphone choice is an important element in recording. You can use the microphone on your computer but you will need to be extremely close to the microphone to get a clear sound. These microphones will pick up computer sounds, and also all the sounds around your computer.Using a USB headset will allow you to record without worrying about how close or far you are to the microphone. They are designed both for recording and voice chats. If you're looking for a professional sound look for a condenser microphone. You will need an external power source, but it will give you a more realistic sound.

Edit
Now it's time to edit everything.Make sure that all of your audio is organized in the proper order. You can trim, or delete any unwanted or unnecessary interruptions and pauses you don't like.A program called "Audacity" has the ability to record, edit and post-process your audio.Everything you will need to create a pod cast is in this program although it has two drawbacks. It does not allow you to record or interview with people who are out of the room where you are recording. You also cannot compose music with this software. If you want to combine loops of music then Mc and GarageBand are great for this.If you're using music, make sure it is pod safe; or make sure it is music that can be used legally in a pod cast.Once you have your pod cast the way you like it, send it to itunes; select Get Info from File menu; complete required fields. Now that you have your pod cast the way you want it you will convert to MP3.Drag and drop itunes onto your desktop and you're ready to publish.

Publish
This is where things might get a little technical. In order to set up your pod cast you will need a URL on your website. You have to have a place to store the pod cast so people can download it.You can use a web page of your preferred HTML editor, or put the information onto a blog. You may or may not need software to place your pod cast into. You will then need to input the pod cast into one of the software applications. You will then need to sign into your itunes music store account.(You cannot submit information unless you have a store account)It's easy sailing from here.Itunes will automatically pick up anything you've added to your URL.

Way to go!You're on your way to setting up your on pod cast.If at first you don't succeed try try again.Sometimes it takes a little persistence to get it how you want it.
