I lost my Yahoo mail password, how do I access my Yahoo mail account?

It's easy to forget your passwords every now and again. Passwords are required for virtually everything, from pin numbers to email addresses to bank accounts, and each with different requirements with regards to length and letters used. So unless all of your passwords are the same, you're bound to forget them once in awhile.

Many people write their passwords down to help them remember. However, if you forgot or lost your Yahoo mail password, you can still access your Yahoo mail account. When you signed up for Yahoo mail, you selected a security question for the express purpose of letting you know your password in case you forgot it. That way, if you happen to forget your password, you can send an email to the administrator and have them retrieve it for you. But first, you must answer your security question. A drop down when you signed up gave you a number of options for questions, including "What is your pet's name?" and "What was the make of your first car?"

If you lose your Yahoo mail password, the following steps will help you access your mailbox:
1. Go to the Yahoo sign in page as normal. There is a link that says "forgot your username/password." Click on that link.
2. You will then be taken to a page that asks you to fill in your username. This is your email address, minus the "@yahoo.com" part. (So, if your email address is janedoe@yahoo.com, your username would be janedoe.)
3. Then, you will be asked to answer your security question.
4. Once you have correctly answered your security question, your password will be delivered to you or you will be asked to create a new one upon signing in. Then, you can access your inbox.

Tips for remembering your password
Creating a password that is difficult to guess but easy to remember can be tricky. You could always write down your password on a post-it note and keep it on your computer or in your purse or wallet. But these can be lost. The following are some tips for remembering and selecting passwords that are not easy to forget.
If you want to use numbers, consider using Roman numerals for increased security (for example, jane15 would be janeXV).
Keep in mind that the more complex or the longer your password is, the less likely you will be to remember it.
Try using a combination of letters and numbers, This is safer and more difficult to remember than just using numbers or just using letters.
Use names, but just remove the vowels. For example, if you want your password to be your name, janedoe, taking the vowels out would make it jnd.
Take the the first four letters of your name and the first four letters of the site/program you are using the password for and combine those. So, if your name is Tiffany and the site you need a password for is First Bank, your password would be tifffirs.
If you lose or forget your Yahoo mail password, you still have access to your mail; you simply go to the site and enter your security question, then create a new password.
