Podcasting for fun

One of the greatest things about podcasting is how universal it is. By this we mean that podcasting can be used by just about anybody and it can be used for just about anything. Currently podcasting is being used in the educational setting, business setting, healthcare setting, and many more areas. But the main setting that podcasting is being used for is the entertainment setting.

Because making and creating is so easy to do many teens and young adults, as well as a few older ones have been creating podcasts to help keep us entertained. They spend hours making and creating new podcasts, which is why there are some many new podcasts available each day. People have been creating podcasts for just about every subject there is, but the most successful podcasts seem to be the ones that add a bit of humor in our lives.

Many of us are always looking for new ways to help keep us entertained. We have all been guilty of forwarding along funny emails we have received, but it seems now that we keep getting the same forwarded emails. But now with podcasts we can add a new element to forwarded emails. Podcasts are usually audio files, but can also be video, images, text, etc, that is downloaded onto our computers, cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, etc. These files can provide us with great entertainment as we surf the internet while listening to the podcast in the background. Or if they are video podcasts we can watch a short clip to get that much needed laugh at the end of the day. And the best news is no matter what your tastes or style of humor is you can find a podcast.

Podcasting for fun is a great concept because it allows people to get creative and to provide some useful material to average people. Just because we are talking about podcasting for fun does not mean we are limited to talking about humor podcasts. Podcasting for fun can include almost anything, even business podcasting.

If you were to look in the different podcasting directories you would find a variety of categories for fun podcasts, such as entertainment, comedy, radio, etc. All of these categories are podcasts that are designed to provide some form of entertainment to all of us internet users. And under these categories you will also find many sub categories that you can use to narrow down your search even further to find exactly what you were looking for.

Another great thing about podcasts is that they can range in length from a few minutes to half an hour or so. This enables the podcast creators to make their shows as long or as short as they like. People have created talk show podcasts which they host themselves, where they cover a different topic each week. Radio stations have even started creating podcasts to provide a compilation of their greatest hits, such as Bob and Tom who are a nationwide radio show that provides stand up comedians and others.

Creating podcasts for fun is probably the most popular way that podcasts are used, high schools are even encouraging students to create their own podcasts in journalism classes. The best thing about creating podcasts for fun is that there is no limit as to what you can and can't do; you can let your imagination run wild. Just remember though if you decide to include music or comedy routines as a part of your podcast copyrights still exist and you will need to get permission from the owners before using their materials.
