Preserving digital photos
The first way to save you photos and probably the most used way is to store them onto a CD-R, a compact disc made especially for photos. If your computer allows it you will be able to download your photos to the CD very easily. In your photos shop you will find a setting that says something like "download photos onto a CD".All you have to do is select the photos or photo files that you want to put onto your disc and push the download button. There is one down side to storing your digital picture onto a CD, they don't last forever. The average life of a CD-R is about 5 years, so unless you want to keep making new CD's, this method would not be method of choice. Zip disks are another easy way to store your digital photos.Zip disks are inexpensive and you can buy them with little storing space or a lot of storing space. This way is very similar to the way you would store your photos onto a CD.The same process applies with the zip disc, but instead of down loading to a CD it will say transfer to removable E drive. This method is also not proven to last for more then a couple years. Some people would suggest that you get an external hard drive. They can hold lots and lots of GB's, for photos or any other file that you are wishing to save.External hard drives are also fairly inexpensive and easy o use.But in addition to using your external hard drive you will also want to store those photos onto a CD just for back up incase your external hard drive does fail. These are just a few suggestions on how to store your digital photos.Unfortunately science has not come up with a way to let you store your digital photos forever.Until they do you will have to resort to using CD's, zip discs, an external hard drive, or do it the old fashioned way and get all your pictures printed at the photo store.Either way you do it, you are still going to want to save those precious memories any way you can.
